Confused...
Good evening.
Just after Thanksgiving I purchased the five-year extension for magicJack service for my primary magicJack, which I no longer use. When the call caps appeared in mid-late December (and within 30 days of my purchase date for the service extension), I requested that magicJack cancel the extension and refund my USD59.95, which they have (without any trouble what-so-ever, I might add.)
Here's the confusing part, my.magicJack.com still shows an expiration date of 23 April 2014. I suppose it could simply be a clerical error and my magicJack will die a natural death this coming 23 April. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I thought about contacting customer support and advising them of their error, but I just can't bring myself to engage in such a needless episode of self-torment.

Lisa,
I believe you have done your part to try to remedy this situation. You can't blame yourself for their clerical error. If it really bothers you, I suppose you could try billling chat to straighten it out. However, when they see that your MJ has a five year extension and it hasn't been paid for, they might charge your card again. Just think of all those here that have complained that they paid for an extension and didn't get it. I think it's a wash.

A Different View
Since Magic Jack upheld their part by refunding you the extension - I would notifiy them of the error still showing and give them the opportunity to fix it - cash register honesty
What you think of me is none of my business.

Good Points...
Good evening, maine-iac.
In the final analysis, I'll do the right thing. I'm just looking for reasons not to deal with it. Unfortunately, there aren't any.
I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.
This is essentially true. I seem to be troubled by the fact that I know something is wrong and am reluctant to attempt to remedy it because doing so involves excruciating pain (i.e. dealing with customer support.)maine-iac wrote:I believe you have done your part to try to remedy this situation. The idea that they might try to charge my credit card again hadn't occurred to me. That's a scary thought.maine-iac wrote:If it really bothers you, I suppose you could try billling chat to straighten it out. In fairness to the magicJack folks, I haven't had any problems with being charged prior to the end of the 30-day trial or not receiving things that I've purchased. And, the magicJack folks were dears when I requested the refund for the five year extension.maine-iac wrote:Just think of all those here that have complained that they paid for an extension and didn't get it. Very Strange Response Indeed...
Good evening, mberlant.
Fortunately, my psychotherapy was completed nearly 25 years ago. Regrettably, there does seem to be some dissent as to whether or not I am cured. The good news is that there aren't anywhere near as many voices in my head as there once was. I guess we can't please everyone. So it goes...
You're probably correct. An endeavor to correct this mistake is not likely to be too successful. Perhaps, if I set my sights just a little bit lower -- say, a good-faith effort to correct the issue -- and not expend too much energy on it, I can feel comfortable that I did my part in spite of any undersirable result.mberlant wrote:You can only get mired deeper by trying to pursue this. Good evening, magicjackjoe.
I will report back on my results after I have ventured into the world of magicJack customer support.
Of course, this is a very sensible suggestion. I quite agree.magicjackjoe wrote:Since Magic Jack upheld their part by refunding you the extension - I would notifiy them of the error still showing and give them the opportunity to fix it - cash register honesty

My Thought Is...
Good evening, OTC.
In any case, I'm going to make a good-faith effort to resolve the issue. We'll see what happens...
My thought is that even though my.magicjack.com reports an expiry date of 23 April 2014, the magicJack will in fact die on 23 April 2009. In other words, I was thinking that the indicated date of expiration is not tied through software to the actual expiry date of the magicJack device.oldtimercurt wrote:I'd just let it ride. They'll probably fix it with one of their stealthy updates.

That is good news! It means that you have fewer different avenues of advice to choose amongst. Now all you need is a speech-to-text converter in your brain. After all, it is much easier to work from a transcript than from a tape.lcompton wrote:The good news is that there aren't anywhere near as many voices in my head as there once was.
