I have a USB Logitech Wireless Headset. When I switch to the headset, I must "always" go into the Menu Set Volume Control and reset the MagicJack Headset option to use the actual headset device - it always defaults and resets to my Sound Card. It is frustrating to have to do this and makes it nearly impossible to do a "switch" to the headset for received calls.
Anyone have this problem?
Note: My Playback devices are:
1. Bose Audio (default)
2. Logitech Wireless Headset
3. Playback thru Totalrecorder
4. Realtek AC97 Audio (my sound card of course)
5 USB Internet Phone by Tigerjet (MagicJack)
My Recording Devices are:
1. Logitech Wireless Headset (default)
2. Realteck AC97 Audio
3. Record thru TotalRecorder
4. USB Internet Phone by Tigerjet.
To restate the problem: MagicJack always resets the Headset settings (all of them) to Realtek AC97 Audio. Absurd! At least it should use the default input device... as the default.
I even tried setting the defaults (both playback and recording) to logitech and restarted MagicJack - still it insists on setting the headset settings to the Realteck AC97 Audio.
Any ideas? Is there a registry setting that can force the setting to be retained? Or do I have to live with this odd behavior.

Hi Jack (don't say that in an airport!),
I bought a MagicJack and installed it on my Gateway P4 tower computer, on March 10th, 2009. I just won an ebay auction for a used Logitech wireless headset, which, when I receive it, am planning on interfacing with my Gateway and MagicJack. I disconnected my landline phone after having the same phone number with AT&T for 40 years. I take care of my 81 year old, blind mother in her home, 24/7, Dr's orders. She is bed-ridden, bladder and bowel incontinent, has a heart specialist, advanced Alzheimers, COPD, etc. Needless to say, she is a full-time job, and then some. I am constantly running around the 2-story house, washing her soiled cloths and linen, washing dishes, etc. I tried a Uniden water-proof cordless phone, with a head set, but, with the internal antenna, the range is very limited. My hands are always wet, which makes it hard to handle electronics, hence the waterproof phone. I am hoping the wireless logitech will work out better, but after seeing your post, I wonder. I will add to the thread as soon as I get some practical experience with the Logitech. My current problem is that after I set my MagicJack settings for the regular telephone, or the computer wired headset, or microphone and desktop speakers, and then use any other program on the Gateway, like check my email on google, or go on ebay or craigslist, it will somehow mess up my Magicjack to cause me to not audibily hear either the ringer on the phone or the sound card ringer over the speakers. The calls are ALL going directly to voicemail, and I don't know that anyone has called, even when I am within earshot of the phone ringer or computer speakers. I saw a separate thread on this problem, so I am going there right now. I will check back on your issue, Jack, good luck with MagicJack and your wireless headset.

Don't think this is the norm.
Frugal,
I have read that many people have absolutely no problem with headset use. It is most likely a result of my particular configuration that the problem exists. I would give it a try and until proven otherwise assume that the headset will work as adverstised.
Take care - you are carrying a pretty heavy load from the sounds of it - hope you can find some help. (church, local social services, etc.)

Problem resolved - more or less.
The only way I could resolve this was to disable my sound card.
The headset becomes #1 and is retained across switching back and forth from tele to head.
I am going to write a script to disable/enable the sound card as required.
