when i try to make a call all i hear is static. i have been through corded and cordless phones, tried powered hub, changed phone cords,used upgrade.exe formatted drive, restarted cycled modem and router changed drive letters and spent endless hours with techs,changed drive letters you name it.
Anyone hava another suggestion?

Ezekiel: On the right side you should among other things see two drives. One is called "MagicJack" and the other is called either "Phone" or "Vista Only".

Ezekiel: First right click on the one called "MagicJack" and then select "Change Drive Letters and Paths". In there select "Change" and then use the scrolldown menu to select "X". Click ok, you will get a pop up asking you to confirm, press yes.

Ezekiel: Now do the same thing with the drive called "phone" or "Vista Only". Name that one "Y".
mack: done
Ezekiel: Now exit device manager and then unplug your magicJack. Now restart your computer and when you are up and running again, plug in your magicJack.

What happens if you use a microphone and speakers/headphone connected to your PC's sound card? If you get intelligible conversation (forgiving the nature of such microphone and speakers), you probably have a defective dongle. If, on the other hand, you get the same static and the other party hears the same nothingness, your problem is in your PC/router/ISP/internet chain.
My money is on a defective dongle.

I, through just "exploring" found a fix at least for me
Here's my fix on a vista machine
Control panel > hardware and sound >manage audio devices > Playback >
highlight Handset > properties > advanced > default properties> make sure that the default is TELEPHONE QUALITY
