"No serial number passed." in registration screen

I'm getting "No serial number passed." in the registration screen. Has done software upgrade magicfix, disabled zonelarm and not sure what I can do to bypass the message. OS is XP home, v. 2002, sp3
Am I getting a defective magic jack or what??? Please help.

Okay, I found the answer here http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/no-s ... t5165.html, but I didn't follow everything. All I did was step 1-3 to change the settings in "Privacy" tab from high to Medium high and restarted it. That was it.
