Need help with hamachi vpn - mj used to work, now its not

Hey all, I need help with setting up MJ to work with hamachi vpn
my MJ used to work decently before I installed hamachi, now its not working

I have read and tried several things from these posts but still not working

at first the softphone would show:
" 000-000-0000
please connect to the internet and double click here"


that would get me to the registration page, which said I was already registered.

but...Couldn't call -- I have a dial tone but the call never goes through.



Tried PC reboot, tried unplug MJ and PC reboot,
Tried to PC reboot and shut down Hamachi, tried unplug MJ and PC reboot and shut down Hamachi
Not working


After trying to do a route mask thingy from the wiki

I get this message:
"magicJack was unable to contact our registration server.
Please check your internet connection.
If you can browse other web pages, it means our server is temporarily down. Please restart the phone again in a few minutes if it is not ready to call.

but I do hear the multiple clicking sounds like its trying to connect but same thing:

i tried to locate the "registration server" to maybe add it to the mask, I don't know really, I'm grasping for anything I can to solve the issue.


I also tried looking at wireshark capture info, but it did not shed any light that I could tell.



The rest of my internet and 4 networked PC work as they should

If the VPN doesn't allow you to specify traffic which should bypass the VPN (and go to your local gateway/router), you'll want to do a Wireshark capture without the VPN, and one with the VPN (after creating the routes described in the wiki VPN how-to). Then compare the two. You want all network activity stopped (browser windows and IM closed) to reduce the noise in the capture.

If you don't see the connections being made like they are in the first connection, that means something is incorrect with your routes. Or, the VPN is doing something to get ahead of your routes. You can test your routes by routing them to some other (randomly chosen) address, and trying to run MJ without the VPN running. If MJ stops working after those routes, but begins working when you change the routes back to the correct addresses, and stops working when you start the VPN, then the VPN is doing something to prevent you from having alternate, local routes.

Keep in mind that a VPN connects you to a network which uses different name servers. It's possible that network doesn't have name resolution for MJ's servers. This problem should be evident in the Wireshark trace as the DNS resolution attempts will return nothing (for the servers MJ references by name, like prov1, mls.softjoys, etc.). If you have this problem, you have to add the hosts to your computer's host file.
