works great with cell but no landlines

Post by ezgoewin »

I have had MJ for three months. It works great to and from my home cable phone or cell phones but not from hard line service (AT&t or Bellsouth). I have changed my phone number twice to fix the issue and replaced the unit once but with no luck. I have tried it on two other computers and the result is the same. When hard line numbers try to call me it gives a fast busy signal. I can call them just fine but they cannot call me. Any ideas or suggestions? I have tried all of the chat fixes, (format etc.) as well.
thanks

check with Bellsouth and AT&T to make sure that they show your MJ exchange as active. The local carriers sometimes do not know when a new exchange has been made active if it isn't one of theirs.

There are others in my area with the same exchange so I know it is active. Any other ideas?

When I selected the number this time I made sure to select one I had seen used before.

I am assuming from the lack of response that everyone is as baffled as I am?

Makes no sense. If you can call from a cell phone to your MJ, then you can call your MJ from a landline. Have you called the landline provider to have them check the call for you?

You are right it makes no sense. I can call from a cell and I can call to landlines but they cannot call me. Sorry, but I already knew it made no sense. Anyone have any possible solutions?

Still no takers? This can't be the first time this ever happened.

Repeating, have you called the landline provider to check on their ability to call that exchange?

Yes, I called one of them but it is the same with three different providers. They say it shows busy to them as well but there is nothing wrong with their circuit.

When I first started using my MJ back in October, I could call Verizon Wireless customers, but they could not call me. They would receive a message that the number was unavailable, and this message came from Verizon. After a few days, it magically started working. I believe that Verizon had to fix the problem on their end and add the prefix I was assigned by MJ to their exchange. It has worked fine ever since and I have not found another provider that could not call my MJ number since then. I don't know if that is the same problem as you have, but it seems similar so I thought I would relay my experience.
