choppy reception

Has anybody had the problem of choppy reception about every 30 seconds or so and it last about 3 seconds? It drives me nuts and would like to know if i can get rid of it

Check your computer for any activity that happens at the same time the audio goes choppy. Sounds like something is either using bandwidth or CPU cycles to an extent that it interferes with your MJ.

Open Task Manager (right click on the Taskbar, select Task Manager)
Change to the Processes Tab
Sort by CPU. Click it twice to sort from High to Low
Make a phone call
Observe the CPU load as you hear the audio go bad.
Report back here with which 3 processes are taking up most CPU time when it happens.

Most CPU cycles should be consumed by the System Idle Process (in other words, the CPU is idling, doing not much). If something else is taking up most of your cycles, it may be your PC is underpowered.
Please let us know the configuration of your PC as well (what type CPU, speed, how much RAM, what else is running in the background).

Need info on your setup.

Might try setting MagicJack process to high and see if that helps.

the system is the one process that jumps up and down on the list with one that just happens with the noise but its so fast I can' t read it only see that it starts with a m there is all kinds of things running using memory but not cpu

In TaskManager, on the Processes tab, sort by Image Name (clik on the column heading). Then find the MagicJack process (it's called magicJack.exe), right-click on it and select Priority. Set it to high.
I'm not sure if that help or hinder, because setting it to High is at the detriment of other processes that need CPU time. But you can always give it a try. If it makes no difference or other programs start to suffer, you can easily change it back to Normal.

In the end, it sure sounds like something that's on your computer that's eating up CPU time and causing the MJ to become choppy.

Do you have some kind of utility running that does or checks something often? A diskutulity that has some disk activity every 30 seconds?

It does not sound like the MJ is at fault here.
