Voice sounds distorted after I let magicjack for 24 hours.

Hi guys!

I really don't know what I'm doing wrong, hopefully somebody can give me a hand here.

I'm currently paying for my mom's cell phone bill and she is the type of person who is constantly talking on the phone, since she is always on the phone I decided to buy magicjack for her, that way she can have a home phone whenever she is at home and save some minutes for the cell phone.

I installed and setup magicjack on my father's PC who is always ON and connected to a high speed Internet, then I bought wireless telephone to use with magicjack, everything seems to be working fine but the only things that really bothers me is that I need to restart magicjack's software almost everyday, if I don't do the restart then I will start hearing the voice from people distorted.

Like I said before, magicjack works without any problem for a leas 20 hours but after that I start to experience the voice problem distortion problem until I restart the software. I have installed the lastest software from the website: http://upgrades.magicjack.com/upgrade/upgrade.exe and magicjack is connected directly to the back of the PC where the USB is.

What else can I do? any tips? recommendations? I don't want to restart the PC or magicjack software everyday in order to work properly, I want a least to be good for a week.

The only fix I know of to tell you is to go in task scheduler and set up your computer is restart once a day. Try C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe -r Just set it up to restart in the middle of the night when everyone's asleep until you can find out whats causing it to be touchy.

Thanks for this suggestion but the thing is that I don't want to even touch the computer and be able to use magicjack as a regular phone... and not restart the program everyday.

Could this be cause because I'm not using a powered USB?

You won't have to touch the computer everyday. That tells your computer to shutdown and automatically restart itself at the time you want it to. You can try a powered usb hub but I would look and see what programs you have running and see if any of them don't play well with mj. Good luck sabresfan

New to this all myself but here is my suggestions. Set MJ as high priority. To do that right click on the task bar and open task manager, find magicjack.exe and right click and choose priority, make high.
This will revert back to normal after a reboot.
There is a software called Prio. This will keep it from changing back.
Another suggestion, change your antivirus settings so they don't scan or update automatically. I had a problem with this. Make sure you don't have alot of open programs sucking memory and processor power. good luck. Mine has been working great since I made these changes. Just remembered this link:

Hi!

Thanks for your reply, hope this can solve my problem... This is what I did:

I installed the "Prio" software and then set magicjack as high priority, now it looks like this settings was save by "Prio". I also changed the anti virus settings to update only when the computer restarts. About the scan schedule I set the anti virus it was NOT set to scan automatically so I guess this is good.

Now, I was wondering if the following could be the problem:

Since my dad is the one who basically use the computer only to browse the web, I installed magicjack under another admin account that way I let this admin account log on with magicjack software all the time and I have another limit account for my dad, i was wondering if installing magicjack into another account could be the problem?
