Hack: Use your bluetooth enabled cellphone with magicjack

Post by CaptSmokey6 »

I was messing around with the magicjack, and i figured out how to redirect your cellphone's audio to the magicjack. Here's how you do it:

You will need:

A computer with built in bluetooth or if your computer doesn't have bluetooth, you can buy a bluetooth adaptor from an electronics store or a store that sells electronics, such as Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and so on.

A MagicJack with a landline phone connected to it.

These are quick instructions, for more details, see the manual that came with your bluetooth adaptor or computer with bluetooth built in and also your cellphone manual.

This is what you do (These instructions are for Windows XP):

Terminate the magicjack software with the task manager if it's open. To do that, press CTRL ALT and DELETE or CTRL ALT and DEL at the same time on your keyboard, then go to the "Processes" tab, look for "MagicJack.exe", then click on it, then click the "End Process" button. When it asks you if you really wanna do it, click "yes". Don't worry about the warning message when you click the "End Process" button, it's safe to terminate the magicjack software. When done, exit the task manager. If you don't terminate the magicjack software, the hack won't work cause the software takes over the magicjack hardware.

on your cellphone, turn bluetooth on, then put your phone on discoverable mode

Pair your computer with your cellphone

On the computer, Start "Audio Gateway" by right clicking on the bluetooth icon, then hover over or click on "Quick Connect", then hover or click on "Audio Gateway", then click on the name you chosen for your bluetooth enabled phone. Your phone's audio is now redirected to the computer, but you want it to be redirected to the magicjack instead, here's how it's done:

Click "Start", go to the "Control Panel", making sure your on "category view", click on "Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices", then click on "Sounds and Audio Devices", then click on the "Audio" tab. On "Sound Playback", change default device to "USB Internet Phone by TigerJet". On "Sound Recording", change default device to "USB Internet Phone by TigerJet". Click "Apply" But don't click "OK", leave that window open so you can restore the settings when your finished.

To make a call, dial the number on your cellphone, then put the cellphone where the signal is good, then pick up your landline and talk away. when finished, hang up the cellphone and landline.

Receiving a call is a bit of a problem, when your cellphone rings, the computer will automaticly answer the call, and you won't know it cause the audio is redirected to the magicjack, so pay close attention to your cellphone, cause some cellphones will visually show you it's ringing when it's connected on bluetooth. When you see the phone light up when it rings, pick up your landline.

To restore the audio settings, go back to the "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties" window, and set both "Sound Playback" and "Sound Recording" back to where they were before. Then click "Apply" then click "OK".

EDIT: Oops, i forgot to say this: Before you click the "OK" button, click on the "Volume" tab, and put a check mark on "Place volume icon in the task bar" then click "Apply" then click "OK".

Enjoy,

CaptSmokey6.

EDIT: You can also play your favorite songs using Windows Media Player or your favorite music playing software through the magicjack.
