I don't recall having a 401 error. But, this post said it is due to an incorrect system time: http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/post29236.html#29236

On tech support for two hour and researching my 401 error for several more hours. No luck yet.

I tried dns rec change, adding trusted sites, the upgrade.exe, opening up firewalls, windows restore, other usb ports.

Could it be I have mj on e: then on I: perhaps new doesn't like two non consecutive drive letters.

Or is there a host file dns record to try?

Try to fix windows registry with RegCure/Registry Mechanic software. It works for me 100%.
