If your ATA still works please post your specs here. Let's see if there anything in common.
Mine is:
Linksys RTP 300 (unlocked from previous provider)
It went down after the upgrade. I promptly plugged in the dongle and got the update. I had to log in with my Mj username and password to a website.
I used the Stroth Suite to pull a new password from the dongle. I did not change the user agent string to the new one but left it as it was.
After entering the new password it registered and all is fine.
Perhaps some ATAas still work, but other don't
or changing the user agent string breaks it?

My PAP2T works for my new Magicjack but not the old one on the same Linksys box. Since all of the settings under System, SIP, Provisioning, and Regional are shared, I don't think the problem has anything to do with User Agent, Domain, or anything else under those tabs. It has to be something specific to either the Line x or User x settings.
I don't think it has anything to do with ATA specs on the devices that work and those that don't. I think it has to do with which MJ accounts they've switched over to the new login method. I bet that you'll find that the older MJ accounts have been switched and the new accounts haven't. My Nov activated MJ doesn't work but my April account does.
I could be wrong. I'd like to hear from ATA owners who own ATA's that have accounts older than 4 months.

Thanks for the Info.Anon wrote:Mr Dasher,
My Nov activated one does work.
Do you own more than one MJ?
Was the Nov activation used in an ATA?
Would you mind telling me what proxy you've been using (city your area code is from)? The reason why I asked is in another posting someone mentioned that they maybe rolling server changes and they just haven't switched over certain area codes.
The proxy that doesn't work for me is New York. The one that does work is Chicago.
I'm wondering if MJ requires to roll out an update in order to change the login method for the MJ's that still work or are we ok for a while.
Thanks for you help.

1 Year Old DOngle & 1 Month Old Dongle Neither are worki
In response to older and newer accounts. I have one that is a year old and one thats only a month old. Plugged both in and both updated. I was never asked to login to the website with either one. After the update each rebooted but that was it. They came online and work fine. I have been using pbx providers and an unlocked pap2t. My pap2t was purchased retail and came as unlocked. It was not unlocked from a previous provider.
I will mess with the settings some more this evening and see if I can get it to work again on the pap2t but pbx providers seem to be dead as well. It would be real easy to kill a pbx provider by simply blocking any login requests from their domains but I doubt they did that.
My feeling is that the complete SIP credentials are some how being masked in stroths tools. Were the tools written with a character limitation of only 20 for the password? Although everyone had a password change, what if some now have a 25 character password and we just don't see the rest. This would explain why some ATAs still work as those people had a password change but did not go beyond the usual 20.
Another idea is that perhaps the full 20 characters are not actually needed to login. What if the softphone only transmits digit 3, 10, 17 & 19 and ignores the rest or reverses the order or something. OK, I will stop now but this is driving me nuts! LOL

Yes, I plugged both dongles into the computer and they both updated. I used the Stroth utilities to get the user and password info. Both dongles work plugged into a computer, but only the new Magicjack's info works on the PAP2T. The old one doesn't even register.Anon wrote:Hi Greg D,
Did you plug both of the dongles into the computer and let each one update?
Will both work if plugged into the computer?
I've tried multiple proxies with both Magicjacks, specifically, Los Angeles, Denver, and Miami. The new Magicjack works with all of them, the old one doesn't work with any of them. In my opinion, this is definitely not a proxy issue.Anon wrote:Are they both using the same prxoy address?
such as miami.talk4free.com:5070
or are they using two different proxys?
I noticed that if you use an IP addy for the proxy (say if you resolve your proxy to an ip) i get that it failed to register but the next register is in like 1900 seconds, but if you use the actual proxy, like proxy01.sanfrancisco.talk4free.com it fails to register but next register is in 20 seconds instead of 1900
all is working here
I have 2 MJ running on a PAP2 ATA. One was activated end of April or beginning of May and one was activated end of May beginning of June. I did not do any updates. Both are dialing in and out. I'm on the Chicago proxy and I used this to set up my ATA (http://rapidshare.com/files/208210096/PAP2TMJ.config) which is what I found on this forum. I have had my ATA activated only for like 2 weeks. Hope this helps.
