Do Not Disturb feature is missing from my MJ softphone

Post by jff »

A feature I have used frequently is no longer displayed on either of my MJ softphone clients: Do Not Disturb. Has anyone noticed this? Also, I can not longer run MJFix from their menu. Did I miss an announcement on these issues? :?:

DND

Apparently, from comments in other parts of the forum, the removal of DND was part of the latest "Lucky You" upgrade.

DND and MJ

Post by jff »

Thanks oldtimercurt, I appreciate the info.

I don't know about you, but for me that is not an 'improvement' in service. While I can understand not adding new features since they may cost dollars and cents, but taking away one that already exists seems pointless! MJ gets revenue from termination fees regardless if the call is answered by a person or voicemail.

Also, removing the ability to run fixMJ is just plain counter-productive! How is a end user supposed to correct a problem with his/her MJ? Based on my experience, chatting with Filipinos is not the answer, they apologize a great deal but have few real answers.

While I full well realize MJ is a bargain for $20 per year, as we all know, it is fraught with many service related issues. The threshold of advantage vs disadvantage is in flux and the long term fate of MJ is problematic at best. It is a hell of a CLEC at present, but how long it can withstand the forces of the market is unknown. Dan's personal wealth my have to continue to sustain it well into the future.

I"m really starting to wonder if they removed the do not disturb feature and stopped the ata access for a rollout of an MJ ata. They have stated for months on their website that porting was coming in the second half of 2009. This would seem to make sense to me because they would want to make an MJ premier or something to compete with ooma. So why not take away the do not disturb feature and include it in a new bundle. They could dominate the competion with a dongle for travel and a "cheap" ata for the home. Add in a couple of other features and you get a monthly or higher yearly subscriber for some features they already had or may never really use. Dan may be the smartest businessman in this recession.

I think because some users forgot to turn off the DND and complaints about them not getting any calls.. It's because they forgot that the DND is enabled..

So again a company or a country ( OURS) placates to the lowest common denominator and dumb something down as opposed to inform and raise things up. Sigh, I weep for this country of ours..
