i heard people talking about changing the phone number, i did it since i just bought the MJ and it doesnt bother me to change the number
you may change your number here http://my.magicjack.com/
got my new SIP with MJ utilities and Bingo

Try changing your proxy server to see if that helps. I've been playing around with my thin client the last few days and I see a noticeable improvement in call quality when I force the servers I want to use.marinemaster wrote:This solution is not practical...my MJ with he dongle only has been pretty good since the last upgrade, do you guys still get choppy calls with the last upgrade ?

choppy calls
I get allot of choppy calls now. Seems like it only at my end though its choppy. I have plenty of bandwidth and tried on 5 different PC's,,same issue.
Quality is only as good as the pc its running on and of course the server. Is it possible the password we are extracting from the packet isnt really the password anymore? Because obviously mj engineers tested the same programs we used, do you think the real password is encrypted in the packet and we are missing it? Im not the savy with this stuff, its just a thought
Re: choppy calls
if you have alot of active downloads using lots of bandwidth then you will also get choppy call quality. If your wireless router is wide open or you have poor encryption then maybe someone else is doing heavy downloads off of your router... maybe the NET has hacked your system....Praetorian wrote:I get allot of choppy calls now. I thought you cant force proxy servers in the HOST file anymore? if so what is the proper format to do this maybe I put it in wrongmarinemaster wrote:Try changing your proxy server to see if that helps. Go to the mj wiki and there you can find the detailed instructions for blocking specific proxy servers. Also search in the forums under proxy server and you can find a bunch of threads on it.guide_timothy77 wrote:I thought you cant force proxy servers in the HOST file anymore? if so what is the proper format to do this maybe I put it in wrongmarinemaster wrote:Try changing your proxy server to see if that helps. Magic Jack did one great thing for me, it got me hooked on VOIP. The ATA hack was excellent and taught me how to work with SIP and set up an ATA. Their "fix" that spoiled the fun pushed me to explore other options, and I have found there are a multitude of other services out there that work as well, and amazingly enough, can be comparably priced. Having used an ATA, I'm completely spoiled, it works so amazingly better than the USB dongle and softphone that I could never go back. Magic Jack is last week, forget it and move on, once you try one of the other services you'll wonder why you bothered spending so much effort trying to hack and rehack the MJ only to have another change come down the pipe and break it.
