Well I see no config.sys in the same folder on a new pc....:( So your password would be the same, look at the date on the file when last changed....

MagicJackSuite v1.6 not working?

Post by ramjet555 »

I just rand MJ suite v1.6 and it could not find SIP information.
I'm back on the USB until someone figures this latest little trick of Dan's.

Does anyone have any news?

Is MJ really looking at all our ports?

I can get my SIP info (not changed)

I changed number(which they give 1 time free)

still same new sip credential I can get but SIP adapter(401 unauthorized)

just change time..10 seconds -- 30 seconds 60 as you connection or pc respond) on 1.6 setting you will get sip info (if new or changed or not)

Hi,

can anyone help please.

I just downloaded the MagicJack Utilites Suite v1.6 in the attempt to have Magic Jack run on my iphone with the "SipPhone" app (which I can't get to work, every time I click on it, it disappears)...

Any way... the utilities for the magic jack I just installed, it keeps saying my drive letter is incorrect, when it's not.

I have it set to drive F, i see the icon where the magic jack is installed on drive F... yet this utility program keeps saying:

Invalid MJFlashDriveLetter in Config.ini or MJ not plugged in. Correct and try again.

Well, i set the drive letter to F, and I even edited the config file to reflect the default to drive F rather than drive E. and no joy here at all.

How do I get this to work?

Thx

Ok, I finally got it to work... it was kinda odd. I had to close my windows explorer window... Drive Q was apparently the PHONE (as it was labeled), but when I closed the window, and re-opened windows explorer, drive Q then said "magicjack"...

It took about 4-5 attempts of clicking the get SIP info, and finally got it.

But now I have a problem with the SipPhone iphone application. Can anyone help in that regard? is it a scam software app, I hear bad reviews about it. When I click on it, it disappears after loading for a split second on my Iphone.

Do I need to turn bluetooth on or something?

Stroths worked for me

Post by ramjet555 »

I just pulled out the SIP information just using the sipinfo.exe file, worked like a charm. But, I have yet to get that to work on my phone adapter.

Does ANYONE have theirs working on a Linksys PAP2 ?

Thanks

kakapyara,
you've got a bit of reading to do. The short answer is that for most of us using MJ with the dongle and computer is the only way for now. A few of our wizards are working on the solution but, as I understand things, you still need to have your computer running with a proxy to deal with changes with the latest update.

http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/cert ... t6674.html

and

http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/ata- ... t6897.html

seem to be the best for getting the current info about attempts to solve the impediments that Dan has to keep us from using ATA.

Welcome to the forums.

I had same problem, 3-4 attempts. I changed the timing in configure, now first try every time.

SIP Info 1.6 Beta 1 - Test Version

Post by stroths »

SIP Info 1.6 Beta 1 - Test Version

It's been a while since I posted any updates, but since my thread is now a sticky I figured I would provide at least one more update.

Here is an update to the SIP Info that should be more reliable in pulling the SIP Info on the first try. Please read all the info below before running and please provide feedback on if it works better for you than previous versions.

Download
Stroths MagicJack SIPInfo 1.6 beta1

Changes
- Added max call duration info
- Removed call delay used in previous versions
- Changed method of pulling proxy name. Should be more reliable. Note that this just pulls what MJ says your proxy should be.

Instructions
Make sure you already have MJ Suite 1.6 downloaded and setup correctly. Simply overwrite the sipinfo.exe on your computer with the one in the download link. Everything else is the same with the exception of the delay setting in the config. You can set it, but it will be ignored.

Diskspace Concerns: The trade with my new approach is that you will need around 400mb free diskspace (temporarily) running this version. The older versions ran a single dump and searched it for the data needed. This version does the same thing, but 3 times in a row causing around 400mb in files while its running. It deletes the temporary files after it runs just like previous versions.

That's great Stroths...!!!
Believe me or not, whenever I ran your utility, I always wondered, "why do we have to keep changing the delay manually? Why couldn't he (i.e. you) run the same function/method/code block in a loop with an incremental delay until the details are found?"
And you read my mind... :)

thanks a ton.

It is working for me. The previous version also worked for me with only a 2 second delay setting.

I'm curious, do you always do 3 attempts or do you only do the 2nd and 3rd attempt if the first attempt is unsuccessful? It looks like you are unconditionally dumping 3 times, even if the first time is successful.

Just tried it out. The v1.5 works every time for me. The v1.6b worked first time, but it seems a little slower to show info, maybe 15-20 sec.

It does 3 every time on the 1.6b version. The SIP data is only available for a short time so I make it dump the memory 3 times to hopefully catch that short window.

Pulling all the string data from the memory dumps and searching for the data takes a while and if I were to do it one at a time the window of opportunity would likely pass. It's not a perfect solution, but hopefully it will provide a better success rate than the previous versions.

works great. Previous one worked too.
Just one question,
The first MJ I bought worked fine. With the second one no incoming calls! nobody can call me, from cell or land line. MJ support should come back in 24-48 hours with solution. I also posted elsewhere in this forum but not reply as of yet.
Have you ever heard of such a problem, if yes, could you point me to the right thread? I did several searches but nothing significant came up.

Thanks a lot

For all of you who have the same problem, the solution is to change your phone number. I changed it to a new one, restart MJ, run latest upgrade and it works.

Please help!

Post by Hax0r »

I am having problems with getting my SIP info.
I have tried everything that I can think of and everything that I have read here.

My MagicJack is drive G and I updated the configure file to match, but when I try to capture my SIP it says "Invalid Path3 in config.ini"

I can stop magic jack, and check the version using the tool, but I can't start magic jack or get the SIP.

Any help please?

Post the contents of your config here and lets take a look at what you have. In addition, let me know:

1. What operating system you are using (i.e. XP Pro)
2. What drive letter is showing up as the MagicJack "CD Rom"
3. What drive letter is showing up as the MagicJack (non cd-rom one)
4. Are you running any special setup like MJ as a service or running as a different user?

please dont take offense to this -> Im just wondering if anyone has checked to see that the sensitive info is NOT forwarded on once it is captured from MagicJack

Obviously you are a very trusted contributor - Im just trying to be as safe as I can.

Thanks much.

No offense taken. You could always run wireshark to see what's going on in the background. I might add the forward SIP info to stroths in the next release though ;)

Right, but the give and take is if I am to run the process throughly with the MJ and test the software process with wireshark - if there is a POST packet I will see it but it would have left my PC by then - you know what im saying....

maybe im smoking crack ... probably so....

I get the same SIP data as I had before, password...
and the new proxy but entering it doesn't let it register in.

In fact, it even says it's using an older magicjack.exe , even though the dongle puts the newer one.

This was on a fresh install to a ThinClient, that is using EWF so I can start fresh each time I reboot, and use HORM.dat

what's the new ports for, showing in the INFO

UDP Ports
SIPUDPDefaultPort = 0
SIPUDPPortRangeStart = 65535
SIPUDPPortRangeEnd = 49152

where are they used?

Thanks for trying it out momo. The ports were in the previous version (at least I think so). If not, I probably just added them in case anyone found them useful as they were in the dump.

As for the version being wrong, I experienced that before. What happened is I ran MJ as a service under a different user. The MJ Upgrade ran and installed as the current user putting a newer copy of MJ in the logged on user's files. The newer version was actually running, but the suite's path was set to the original location and read that one.

I'm not sure if that's the case with you, but make sure the path is pointing to the one you are running.

Hi Stroths,
would this version issue also be the case if the thin client never had the MJ installed, and is also using EWF and HORM.dat to keep any changes away from the TC?

each time I bring up the ThinClient (T5730) see my sig, it's fresh, without any previous MJ install, and I use it that way, only when I need to make a call, then shut the TC down, and when re-booted, NO magicjack install is there again... I like it ...EWF rocks. :D

or, are you saying the version is stuck in your suite program :?:

I too am getting "No SIP info Found". It launches the softphone fine and I see messages saying it's doing 3 memory dumps, then extracting text but in the end no SIP info.

One other curious thing I noticed was that I can't tell where the mysipinfo.txt is going. I have set it correctly in the config file. I just assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that the memory dump files would also go there.

Maybe I'm a victim as the other two posts with the August 1 update. I tried to use the MJ suite to update and was informed it updated to 1.80.499.2. Then tried the SipInfo again - no luck.

I have the time delay set to 5. Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated. Your tool worked wonderful on my PAP-NA prior to Dan's June push. Thanks for your hard work. Hopefully this is simple.

Now getting "NO SIP DATA FOUND" after update

Post by MJuser403 »

I updated my magicjack and it is now running:

1.80.499.2 (2009.08.01)

Now the SIPINFO.EXE is not finding the SIP data (the current beta version which searches 3 times, nor the previous released version).

It wouldn't surprise me if MJ intentionally found a way to prevent Stroth's program from working.

Same here, "No SIP Data Found. Please try again"

I haven't tried before, so I don't know if it would have worked. I let MJ do it's update, so I'm also on version 1.80.499.2, and I'm running the 1.6b1 SIPInfo, I've tried 1, 2, 3 and 4 second delays (integers only), multiple times for each, and no luck.

I thought it was because I'm running it on a really old, slow laptop (600MHz P3), but after seeing others with the same problem I wonder if MJ anti-hacked their device again.

EDIT: Updated 1st post with download and details.

The SIP data doesn't appear to be in the dumps anymore. I am working on a general MJ dump utility you can play around with and search through the dumps. Maybe one of you will find something I missed.

Maybe its encrypted now or they changed the way it works.

I'll update this later today with it, but don't get your hopes up. I couldn't find the SIP data in the dumps with it.

UPDATE:

Here is the tool I mentioned above. It is really dumbed down from previous apps. You don't have to worry about the config file, paths, etc. Just drop this in the same directory as your MJ Suite and manually run it. After starting it, start MagicJack within 1 minute and it will dump the memory for you. You can then search though the text dumps in notepad to see if you can find anything.

SEE 1st Post for Download LInk

I probably won't do much (if any) more work on this as its taken quite a bit of my time. Plus I dumped MJ and only plan on using it as a backup.

After looking through the magicjack dumps, I see passwords for things that have nothing to do with MagicJack. For example, I saw my gmail password in there. Anyone else see this? Anyone have any ideas why MJ is pulling this data?

Maybe its encrypted now or they changed the way it works.
If it is now encrypted, we are in deep doo-doo. Eventually they will change my password, and I won't be able to use the ATA at all.

MJ is also a backup for me, but I like to keep it working (without using their insipid software).

Before, I looked for [SIP 2.0] which had proxyusername, the domain and some other variables like the password. I can't find that now, but you might try searching for your phone number without any dashes or anything. For example, if your number is (123) 456-7890, search for 1234567890. This is of course just a guess as I don't know what they changed.

I think you, stroths, have been a great help to Magicjack, in helping them to "firewall" their system from "attacks" :D ... they either LOVE you, or are after you, sort of, to stop your program from finding out where their SIP data is, and how it moves in/out

I too use the MJ for backup and outgoing calls so I save my free minutes from my new VoIP service for when I really need them.

For me, the magicjack quality of service is too spotty, with un-smooth data streams, (voice breaking up at times), compared to my new VoIP account, at not much more $$, when you speak of the quality of voice and service. (including customer service :D )

It may have ended for hacking the MJ, unless some other Uber brain like you, or even you, later finds a way, then it's back ON...

But don't drive yourself crazy with this, yeah, also, you've given up a lot of your time, and really did some neat stuff, don't pressure yourself.

eventually MJ had to make it secure, or the advertisers wouldn't want to pay for the ads that kept it going, if no one was looking at them.

if you meant me? ... www.future-nine.com

three types of plans, http://www.future-nine.com/plans.html

ALL PLANS Support BYOD,
or you can have them send you one for a charge,
but they give you the SIP info.

pay-as-you-go - outgoing 0.01 cents/min USA/canada NO monthly charge
......................... - DID # for incoming with PaYG plan $5/mo .. $5. setup
......................... - 3000 free incoming minutes (setup is ONE TIME Charge)

================

Bare Essentials plan - normally $7/month , discounted yearly rate...
............................... $75/year - 250 free outgoing minutes/month
............................ - FREE DID# given - for incoming w/3000 free in
............................ - No setup charge for DID# - savings over monthly $7.00 rate

================

America Free plan - 13.50 /mo or discounted yearly $135/year
................................ - 3000 free outgoing minutes/month
................................ - 3000 free incoming minutes/month
................................ - FREE DID # for incoming
================

going to the site really shows you all of it, I may leave out somthing here.

AND, they did clone my account for FREE, so my SIP phone works also :D
and even rings at the same time the ATA connected phone rings.

plus, kept me out of the White Page listing FREE, not saying I must pay to be out, like MA BELL does,.. !

Plus, they're nicer to deal with than Magic-Jerks, and will try to fix a problem within hours, if possible, not months :P

so far, the quality is like a POTS line, really steady, NO choppy voice, and the reviews are all good, with top ratings over most all others in the price range.

I got the middle one, Bare Essentials plan , One Year rate.

You pay the costs up-front for the discount, and you see the credit in your account, order a DID on the site, (DID# may also be automatic, not sure)... and then the credit is taken out to give you the yearly service, and monthly free minutes, so don't freak-out when you see the balance go to 0.075 cents ... this is normal, it's paying for the yearly cost, and not taken out monthly.

I didn't realize that, and asked what the !%^* happened, but that was the true test of the customer service, they were very patient with me and explained what had happened .. I felt really stupid ... haha!

nice company.

I am using Sipgate One http://www.sipgate.com/one

Free incoming and you get a California number. No monthly fee other than $1.90 for e911. Billing is 1.9c/min for US calls. You can change the outgoing caller ID which I have set to my Google Voice number. I can also disable the voicemail, which allows Google Voice to handle all my voicemail.

This gives me incoming and outgoing with the same Google Voice number. The big seller for me is that they let you setup multiple SIP devices (ATAs, Softphones) without an extra charge. I have it setup on my ATA and several of my computers via softphones. This allows me to answer or call through my PC if I want or through my regular phone. Plus I get caller ID using the softphones.

Call quality has been good and since most of my calls are incoming, I shouldn't be paying too much a year on this (~$23/yr plus outgoing minutes cost).
