Free Incoming number for SIP
Hello Everybody,
IPKcall doesn't seem to work anymore. I have waited more than a week to get the number. No luck.
Is there any other site that offers free incoming number to my SOP phone?
Thanks in advance

The 200 minutes can be used to make outgoing calls or to forward calls from your Sipgate One number to a landline number and or mobile number. Sipgate One is free if you use an ATA or softphone. They do however charge you to forwarded your calls to a landline or a mobile phone. They also charge for E911 once you add credit to your account. Sipgate One can ring multiple phones or SIP enable devices. They also offer up-to 10 free SIP User ID's so you can have multiple SIP devices ring at different locations from your assigned Sipgate One phone number. This feature seems pretty cool as I can have my Sipgate One phone number ring an ATA at my home, an ATA at my office and my laptop computer or mobile phone with the Fring application installed when I am eating lunch at a restaurant with a WI-FI hot spot.
I also have an IPKall number that I forward directly to my ATA. This reduces latency problems that sometimes occur when you have IPKall forward your calls to VoIP service provider. If you do not want to have your IPKall number directly forwarded to your ATA I would highly recommend forwarding your calls to Callcentric free IP Freedom account which has also worked well for me.

Interesting Ideas.. Great..
I have signed up with Callcentric free IP... but I still don't understand how that IP forward works.. I gave my public IP address.. it never rang.. I am using ATA for SIP(don't have an Asterisk or something )like that.
Would you guys please tell me the configuration for Call Centric and SIPGate. ?
Thanks Gurus

Sipgate is still in early beta stages, but they are posting more and more configuration guides for ATAs every day. PAP2 is already up.
If login and go to the bottom of your screen, you should see "Help Center" Go there to see if you can find the guides, or possibly go into your Settings and locate your SIP info. Some guides should be on the right with a dropdown for diff devices. I've had it registered on the PAP2 and with pbxes with no issues.
Login after link for PAP2

Sipgate One does deduct for calls forwarded to a landline
Today I tested my Sipgate One phone number and set it to forward to a landline phone number. I checked the total of my free minutes in my Sipgate One account before starting the test. Next I placed a call to my Sipgate One phone number for for 3 minutes. I finally checked my Sipgate One accounts free minutes and noticed it had 3 minutes less before placing the call my Sipgate One phone number and having it forward it to the landline. It may be that Sipgate One is only charging for forwarding calls to landlines or mobiles during the first month with the free 200 minutes but I really doubt that. The only way to be sure is to see if one can still forward a call from their Sipgate One number to a a landline or mobile after all the free minutes are used! I will post an update if call forwarding to a landline or mobile still functions after the free minutes are used.

Its normal for sipgate to charge forwarding to a PSTN#, to their own VoIP URI is free though. Call quality is slightly better than Gizmo5, at least in my case, not as good as Future-Nine or Callcentric though.
However, some quick warning:
1. They'll charge $1.90/mo for E911 once you add credit.
2. They have some SERIOUS problem with the billing. I made several calls to my cell phone's voicemail to test DTMF, despite all calls were less than 2 minutes, 3 of them are billed for 1 hour each, that's 180 minutes total. For free minutes I wouldn't bother to complain but needless to say, I would never use them for outbound calls.

I had tons of trouble getting a response from IPKall, as well. Don't know if this is THE solution, but it worked for me in getting a response after weeks and weeks of waiting... Sign up for a Gizmo account. Make sure you sign up with an email address that you check frequently. Then, sign up for an IPKall number, giving your Gizmo trunk info AND using your @gizmo5.com email address as your IPKall active email. Those emails will be forwarded to the email address you signed up with on Gizmo. Just what worked for me.cooldude929 wrote:So, going back to original question then... What other provider provides free incoming number for SIP.. IPKall doesn't respond to me.. don't know why.
The only other free US DID I know is ipComms. http://www.ipcomms.net/html/freedid.html
I signed up for one and they got back to me very quickly. However, they don't provide the SIP login info. Registration on your ATA is tied to you IP address. I could never get the thing to register on my ATA but they provide guides. Perhaps you'll have better luck, but I've heard from a few who've had success that the call quality isn't so great.
I was able to get DIDs from http://www.sipgate.com/ and http://www.voxox.com/
Both support SIP and have unlimited incoming minutes.

Can you tell how did you get and how's the call quality on each?ameir wrote:I was able to get DIDs from http://www.sipgate.com/ and http://www.voxox.com/

Both have good call quality. All you have to do is sign up on their webpages. sipgate gives 200 free outgoing minutes and voxox gives 120 free minutes. You can Google Voxox sip info; works fine.alphabeta wrote:Can you tell how did you get and how's the call quality on each?ameir wrote:I was able to get DIDs from http://www.sipgate.com/ and http://www.voxox.com/

I am using both Sipgate & Gizmo5 for free incoming calls on the PAP2-T, and call quality has been fine on either.
I have my Google Voice number ring both Sipgate & Gizmo5, and this works well. This way everyone can still dial my local Google Voice number to reach me. Setup on the ATA was simple.
For outgoing, I use Google Voice for free. Just dial from the Google Voice web page, and it rings my Sipgate or Gizmo5 phone, and then automatically connects to the party I dialed on the Google Voice web page.
If my computer is off, I still receive all incoming calls on the ATA. Free outgoing without the computer running is not possible, once I use up the 200 free outgoing minutes from Sipgate.

I have the spa2102 and hooked up to sipgate. it hooked up but i can't dial out. i get a fast busy signal. i have all the settings as per instructions but still get busy signal. i did have it hooked up to gizmo5 but with gizmo5 the sound quality is real bad. also, i can't receive calls from google voice with gizmo5
Make sure to use the G711U codec exclusively with Gizmo5 and GV. Once I changed the codec selection to only G711U on my ATA the voice was completely clear.mcbelisle wrote:I have the spa2102 and hooked up to sipgate. it hooked up but i can't dial out. i get a fast busy signal. i have all the settings as per instructions but still get busy signal. i did have it hooked up to gizmo5 but with gizmo5 the sound quality is real bad. also, i can't receive calls from google voice with gizmo5
If I forward my magicjack calls to the sipgate number, do I lose all caller id information?kingfisher1111 wrote:www.sipgate.com offers you a free incoming .But with area code 415 I believe.
Meaning will all calls on the sipgate number show a caller id of the magicjack? If so, is there a way to retain or pass through the caller id of the original caller?

I signed up and got a 425 WA number which is local to me. You get 200 minutes of *outgoing* calls, although these expire in 30 days if you don't use them. Incoming calls are completely free, as are outgoing calls to other sipgate users.

Is E911 service mandatory once you add credit? So far I'm just using the free minutes and calls to another sipgate user. I have no need for E911 since I have a cell phone.
Haven't had any trouble with billing so far but I'll keep an eye on that.
I may try Voxox if I run into issues. I'm sure there will be dozens of comparable services eventually.
Hey guys, did I do something wrong?
I got the free DID - tested it. Then I set it up in my ATA and when I made an outgoing call a recording came up and said I had no credit in my account. So I paid by CC $10 + CA sales tax and now I got the 200 free minutes.
So why is this advertised as 200 free minutes if you gotta pay upfront to use outgoing??

I registered with Sipgate, received the free DID, as well as the 200 minutes of outbound calling without funding my account. Not sure why this occurred for you.synchron wrote:Hey guys, did I do something wrong?

hmmm I wonder if there's some delay from signup/DID to when outbound becomes operational. I figure once the SIP credentials took, outbound would work immediately.
Since they have a real tech support number to call (unlike mj) perhaps, I'll give them a buzz. My goal is to go for the localphone cheaper rate of .007/min (vs. .019/min).

Followup - left voicemail but apparently no one's calling me back. Since they're a brand new startup, I don't mind giving them some initial $$ and I'll consider it an investment as voice quality is pretty good considering my ATA's best codec is G729. Sipgate's web interface is pretty good and the local free phone number (and outgoing toll free) works for me.

The Voxox is pretty sweet.. You pay 1c a minute outgoing and free incoming, the service can easily be put into the ATA.. I have it on a PAP2. My MJ # is forwarded to it and it picks up the CID.. the service has all kinds of goodies for SMS, chat, email, sending and receiving files, I was shocked at all the freebies..You can earn points (a point = a minute of talk time) Voxox is very new and a lot of their features "Are Coming Soon".. Hey we've been there before, but they seem to be on the ball with rolling them out..You get a CA number, that can be replaced when they roll out the other exchanges (coming soon) In the meantime.. give this a shot.. You may just love the damned thing.. BTW it can be on the ATA and the soft phone at the same time, with no problems.. Sop far I've seen no charges for E-911.. I havn't seen anything referring to that charge, either..

i figured this problem out. i had a setting clicked that said to block my number from being passed as in anonymous. they don't let anonymous calls through.

Unfortunately according to Sip Brokers website Sipgate does not currently work. From Sip Broker call legend (Red) Either the provider is blocking inbound calls, or there have been 5 or more unsuccessful calls in a row (in this latter case, the first successful call resets the status back to green.)
Why do you want to call Gimzo5 to Sipgate? Both of these VSP's offer free accounts so if a friend or relative has the opposite just sign for that same provider.
