how to use sipgate+voipbuster in mysipswitch

Post by ashvee »

MJ is gone i am looking for an alternative VOIP.

I am planning to use SIPgate for incoming & voipbuster for outgoing

voipbuster outgoing is it free for a time period

mysipswitch doesnt allow new user to register

sipsorcery.com is the new site

Is it possible to use sipgate + voipbuster in sipsorcery and use it in my ATA.

Is anyone using it .

Not sure about sipsorcery (though it's developed by the same guy as mysipswitch.)

I had no problem signing up for Mysipswitch. I set it up and tested with Xlite softphone first, then redid for the ATA. I'm using it with Sipgate for incoming and outgoing toll free and use Localphone for all other outgoing. They have a good forum section to walk you through it - not too difficult, and call quality is even better than mj's was on the ATA. There is very little delay using the 1-909-390-0003 echo test.

BTW, I really laugh hard now trying that test using the MJ dongle as it used to work better before the 6/10/09 upgrade. Since then, not one word is echoed back correctly unless you're using the handset and softphone.

I stand corrected. It worked just 2 days ago when I signed up. Maybe there's a rush of ex-mj users going this route for cheaper voip alternatives and don't want to bog down their server load.

For mysipswitch, I just used the "Rubee" default dialing plan, called the Sipgate connection 'sipgate1' and then in the sample script code they provide, I changed:

when /^\*1/ then sys.Dial("${dst:2}@provider1") # Forward outgoing calls with a *1 prefix to provider1.

to

when /^\*1/ then sys.Dial("${dst:2}@sipgate1") # Forward outgoing calls with a *1 prefix to provider1.

Try sipsorcery, nothing to lose and, perhaps, something to gain.

Let us know how it goes!

Been there, done that (voipbuster + affiliates).

Why don't you try Localphone since you've been going the UK route anyway for outgoing calls? .007/min is about as close as you get to "free". They offer $5 w/CC (approx. 12 hours talk time) and $10 w/paypal (approx. 24 hours talk time).

IMO, call quality is just as good as mj on an ATA, pretty clear.

Wow, I just read that sipsorcery is a very much improved version of mysipswitch which will be phased out by the end of the year.

If you wait a bit, I'll migrate to sipsorcery later tonite and tell you if I've experience the same registering problems with sipgate.

Sipgate works fine on my ATA but for some reason I can not get it to register on sipsorcery. If you get it working could you let me know what settings you used, I have spent way too much time on it already.

Yes, but minimum $10 credit which equates to 24hours (or 1440 min) of talk time. (That's still less than the $10 euro you would have had to pay for Voipbuster). If you email them nicely once you set up an account (don't mention me of course) you could request to try them out and get 50 cent credit for test purposes. I made 5 test calls already and my credit is now at 47 cents. LOL.

I'll let you know when I get home.

OK - At home now, I registered no problem just like mysipswitch. You just enter the sip credentials under SIP providers and make sure register is checked. Test with Xlite softphone first before officially changing your ATA settings.

No expiration, they give you all the sip credentials and it works fine over ATA. Next closest USA price I've seen for outgoing is Voipms for .0105/min so this is by far, the cheapest.

i am trying to connect localphone to ATA

My main purpose is to make international calls to baharain, Is there any advantage in using
ATA. If i use ATA can i call the country directly without pin

As localphone only gives uk DID, so If am using an ATA to call Us number will it be more than 0.7 c/min

how to dial us number is it 001 & number

There is a section on how to use localphone on their website. Please read it thoroughly for all your options. Bahrain calls are 2.7cent/min. Domestic and cell USA phone calls are 0.7 c/min, period! You only need the UK DID to establish your SIP credentials which doesn't require PIN # (only calling card does).

I was trying to register the localphone in sipsorcery, but I am having trouble to register the provider. It works fine in musipswitch.

Even I can't register the provider, I am still able to route the call via localphone in sipsorcery.

Sipgate registers on my sipsorcery, and I am able to receive calls.

It should be simple config.

Provider Name: sipgate
Username: your sipgate user name
Password: the password they give you
Server: sip:sipgate.com
Register: Checked
Register Contact: sip:your sipsorcery's user [email protected]
Outbound Proxy: sipgate.com
Register Expiry: 60

My localphone won't register with sipsorcery, does anyone know how?

Update notes:

It was working for few calls, but now, it won't work but still registered. I think sipsorcery is not that great yet.

Update notes 2nd:
Sometimes works, sometimes won't. Just made another test, the phone goes through, but the cal quality is really bad.

voipbuster doesnt have a paypal payment option.

If that holds you back, just use the PayPal plug-in, allows you to make payments on most sites, if not all, that take credit cards.

Well, I just found out I have a lot problems. One dial plan is fine. I have

Code: Select all

if sys.IsAvailable() then
        sys.Log("The ATA is online.")
        sys.Dial("local")
      else
        sys.Log("The ATA is off-line.")
, but sys.IsAvailable is not working. After I took it out, I am able to receive calls, but no sound going through. I wish I can go back to the old days when we can use MJ on ATA. So tired of it. ^_^

I was able to copy the 2 Rubee style dial plans I set up on mysipswitch and migrate over to sipsorcery. Outgoing is fine on both providers (Sipgate and Localphone) but incoming for sipgate goes immediately to voicemail and testing the line on sipgate's website indicates that the line is busy.

So one would think you can't have both up simulatenously but if the ATA is only pointing to one server (sipsorcery) I don't quite understand why the mysipswitch account would interfere. I put in a question in their forums and hopefully I'll get an answer to this. In the meantime, the mysipswitch setup works flawlessly for me (and is good until the end of the year, hopefully). Sipsorcery is brand new and is supposed to be an improvement.

Actually, go figure, it has been confirmed that mysipswitch has been down now for the passed 5 hours or so. Here's their script they provide:

#Ruby
# Welcome to mysipswitch, this is your default Ruby dialplan.
# The default rules for incoming calls to [email protected] and for your
# outgoing calls to different providers have been configured for you. To use the outgoing rules you need
# add SIP Providers with names of providerx where x is 1 to 3. You can then use a prefix of *x for
# calls to providerx. For example to place a call to 0012345678 at provider1 you would dial *10012345678.

sys.Log("call from #{req.Header.From.FromURI.ToString()} to #{req.URI.User}.")

if sys.In then
# Do your incoming call processing customisations here.
sys.Dial("#{sys.Username}@local") # Forwards all incoming calls to your registered contacts.
else
# Do your outgoing call processing customisations here.
case req.URI.User
when /^303$/ then sys.Dial("[email protected]") # Blueface speaking clock.
when /^612$/ then sys.Dial("[email protected]") # FWD speaking clock.
when /^613$/ then sys.Dial("[email protected]") # FWD echo test.
when /^\*1/ then sys.Dial("${dst:2}@sipgate1") # Forward outgoing calls with a *1 prefix to provider1.
when /^\*2/ then sys.Dial("${dst:2}@Localphone2") # Forward outgoing calls with a *2 prefix to provider2.
when /^\*3/ then sys.Dial("${dst:2}@provider3") # Forward outgoing calls with a *3 prefix to provider3.
else sys.Dial("provider1")
end
end

I've got Sipgate and Localphone working via sipsorcery. But my incoming calls don't work all the time. Actually, it hasn't worked all this week. Has anyone gotten sipgate to ring their phone consistently?

Below is the dial play I setup since calls to tollfree numbers are free with sipgate and 50001 is the number for the sipgate voicemail. Note that the localphone default outgoing line is currently commented out because I still have free minutes with sipgate but I will switch over to localphone once my free minutes expire.

#Ruby
sys.Trace = false

sys.Log("call from #{req.Header.From.FromURI.ToString()} to #{req.URI.User}.")

if sys.In then
# Do your incoming call processing customisations here.
if sys.IsAvailable("#{req.URI.User}","sipsorcery.com") then
sys.Dial("#{req.URI.User}@local", 30)
else
sys.Respond(480, "Not available")
end
else
# Do your outgoing call processing customisations here.
case req.URI.User
when /^1877/ then sys.Dial("sipgate")
when /^1800/ then sys.Dial("sipgate")
when /^1888/ then sys.Dial("sipgate")
when /^1866/ then sys.Dial("sipgate")
when /^50001/ then sys.Dial("sipgate")
when /^011/ then sys.Dial("00${dst:3}@localphone" )
else sys.Dial("sipgate")
# else sys.Dial("localphone")
end
end

I had problems getting localphone to register in sipsorcery too.

I found out that you also needed to register localphone in order for it to work in sipsorcery.

Below are my localphone SIP settings in sipsorcery:

Provider Name: localphone
Username: your UK phone number that you got from localphone
Password: SIP Password (from localphone VOIP Settings page)
Server: sip:proxy.localphone.com
Register: Checked
Register Contact: sip:[email protected]
Auth Username: SIP ID (from localphone VOIP Settings page)
Register Expiry: 600
Register Server: sip:localphone.com

Log back onto localphone.com and go to the VOIP section after logging in and you should see the following.

Device Status: Online
Devices: www.sipsorcery.com
