Hi all,
I'm going back and forth on whether to get TC or a ATA. The latter has better voice clarity and other neat stuff etc. I have couple of questions before I make a informed decision.
I assume that a computer is not needed and also not needed to be running at all when using MJ with ATA. Having said that, here are my questions:
1. What is the power consumption on an ATA when compared to a TC? TC has a very low power consumption. How about ATA?
2. Do I always keep the ATA running for MJ to be active?
3. Is it legal to use MJ with ATA? I heard that Vonage has blocked people from using ATA with it.
4. I read in this forum that both USB and ATA should not be running at the same time. If it is, my MJ account may be terminated. What does this mean? I'm totally confused on this. Can somebody please explain?
5. How do I get regular updates from MJ if connected to a ATA?
6. I read this thread: http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/can- ... t5923.html
I wanted to know if the instructions given at the end of that thread (in a separate link) is all I need to be up and running with ATA?
7. Is it ok to buy the ATA from here: http://www.ipphone-warehouse.com/Linksy ... /pap2t.htm
8. I have a Netgear router which has only one WAN port connected to Comcast Cable Modem and my notebook has a wireless connection. Do I need to get PAP2T-NA or RTP300 or something else?
Appreciate your feedback.
Thanks.

So, you're saying to stay away from ATA but stick with TC?

Yes, for now a TC works while the ATA (for now) still requires your PC to be running. Read the posts in the thread http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/ata- ... t6897.html for a flavour of the issues. Tons of info in this forum overall.mjuser001 wrote:So, you're saying to stay away from ATA but stick with TC?
