SOLVED -- beeps be gone!
Last week I was a mess, OH MY God the beeps were every other syllable.. and just when I couldn't take one more beep --
Lo and behold, the answer was in front of me with Curt's 6/19 fix and an ADDED FIX of turning the speaker down to zero. It's been one full week and not one beep!

Have you tried the 6/19 fix? It has reduced the beep noise for us; for others it has fixed the beep noise completely.

Something weirder happened
You know, the beeps came back, not as bad but they're back again. Before I used to see magicjack dial by itself in the number field and beep the same time -- sort of like 555-555-5555 and then slowly dial by itself like 8#*568 etc... now it's dialing words like udyl5*x# This is crazy, can't MJ come up with a logical fix. Hire an unemployed for God sake!

well I tried the fix for the 16th of June and for the moment no beeps

I saved it on my computer so if it screws up again I will just run it again.
Hope this works for you

Not fixed yet, don't jump the gun.
No solution yet to this fix. These updates have not worked for many users. The last update of 6-19 fixed the majority of the problem, but after about 3-4 weeks the beeps slowly started coming back.
Granted, it hasn't beeped like it used to, but when I tried customer service AGAIN after 14 times, I was still getting the run around.
So, don't think the beeps are eliminated, because they aren't. Until they come out with another update after that last one, I know what ever they try won't fix the problem.
Therefore, after having the problem since April, and several contacts with customer service, I reported them to the BBB. I gave them ample opportunity to fix the problem, but they have chosen not to even acknowledge the problem publicly.
I hated to report them, but if they get enough reports, maybe they WILL fix the problem.

at this moment that old update worked for me, when they update again I will run that older update over again. Until they fix the issue. for the moment there are no other options, not that I know of. When the beeps come back I will try running it again. will let you know how it goes.
If you have to report them, well that could be a good idea. I have contacted them so many times I know all the steps they suggest by heart. if I ask a question they never answer it. they just keep on going with the same things, I think they have a program that they follow. They copy and paste the instructions. and don't even bother to read what I write. so I gave up, and saved that old update to run each time I get the beeps. It has been 1 week now and no beeps in sight.
Let me know how it goes.
Ciao

Try setting your "DTMF Tx Method:" to INBAND; "DTMF Tx Strict Hold Off Time:" 40JOFTAA wrote:Hello -
I am curious about this beeping issue because it is also happening to me. But, I am using a SPA2102. My MJ is in a closet somewhere. I am not running the MJ software on my computer.
How does one get rid of the beep if using a VoIP adapter such as the SPA2102?
Thanks.
This is found on under Line 1 or Line 2 "Audio Configuration".
Try that and report back if you are still having problems........
I know this is a double post, but I wanted to separate it from my last post.
It seems that the beeps are gone now, but, I can no longer check voice mail.
Once the voice mail service answers, pressing the * key does nothing.
It is not that pressing the buttons does nothing, because they do work when get other menus. For example, if I call my bank, I can press digits to navigate the phone menu.
When I put the DTMF Tx Method back to auto, the problem is solved.
So, at this point it seems that I either have to live with the beeps and not check voice mail, or, check voice mail but live with the beeps.

In that case you might want to increase the value of "DTMF Tx Strict Hold Off Time:" 40, from 40 to 90 or play with values in between!! Before doing so, you might have to hold the phone key in longer to navigate the menu system. For example, if you press the number 1, you might have to hold down the number 1 key for a longer period of time than you would under normal conditions. Try both approach and let us know which one works for you.JOFTAA wrote:I know this is a double post, but I wanted to separate it from my last post.

I will try playing with the settings. My phone doesn't allow me to press and hold the button to have a longer DTMF tone.Everton wrote:In that case you might want to increase the value of "DTMF Tx Strict Hold Off Time:" 40, from 40 to 90 or play with values in between!! But, as I said, the problem only seems to happen with voice mail. I can press the buttons and they are recognized by other phone menu systems. I just called my bank. You know.... Press 1 for English, 2 for Swahili, etc. I went through the entire menu without any trouble. The only trouble I have seems to be with voice mail on MJ.
Thank you for the tips.
I'm not sure what to make of the issue with the "*" key and MJ VM. As a test, could you use a regular phone or another phone to eliminate the phone being the problem? What about using a standalone answering machine or one integrate with a cordless phone (I know, it does not send email of your VM)?JOFTAA wrote:I will try playing with the settings. I am using a cordless phone. The same phone works perfectly without the changes made (suggested above). But, for giggles, I tried a different phone. Same results.Everton wrote:I'm not sure what to make of the issue with the "*" key and MJ VM. As a test, could you use a regular phone or another phone to eliminate the phone being the problem? To add to the info... The phone works perfectly plugged directly into the dongle. The problem only occurs when I make the changes to the SPA2102 to get rid of the annoying beeping. As soon as I put the settings back to where they were, the beeping comes back, but the VM works.
My usual mode of using MJ is using this cordless phone plugged into my SPA2102. I do not normally use the dongle at all.
OK... Progress report. I changed the value to 90 as suggested. Checking VM and using other phone menus is working. Nobody has been complaining about the beep. So, 90 seems to be the sweet spot.In that case you might want to increase the value of "DTMF Tx Strict Hold Off Time:" 40, from 40 to 90 or play with values in between!!
Thank you for your assistance!
