Results of dialing a busy number

Post by VoipDude »

Just wanted to leave a tip for those who are not aware of this behavior by MJ.

When you dial a number that is busy, you go back to a dial tone, not a busy signal as expected.

Yes I've noticed that also. I hope it changes in the future because it leaves you not knowing if its busy or the call didn't go through.

From the phone calls I have made I think there trying to get you off the network as fast as possible, my opinion.

Yeah, it does do that.
Quite irritating.
Sometimes does the same thing with calling a number that doesn't exist and stuff like that.

I find that I do get the busy signal every so often, though.
It goes back to dial tone
then the dial tone immediately stops
and I hear a busy signal.

It took me the longest time to figure that out. I kept thinking that MJ was dropping my calls and I was getting infuriated with MJ and about ready to throw the damn thing out the window into the pool.

Then one day decided to dial the number with my cell phone to see if it was maybe the whole circuit being down in that area and got a busy signal.

Even though I know it does this strange behavior, it still leaves me wondering after each time it does it whether or not it was a busy phone or the MJ decided to barf at that exact moment in calling history.

I would think they'd be able to put in a busy system that would kick you off the network but continue to play a busy signal until you hangup, would be appreciated.
