Dear Forum:
Aside for the aesthetic consequences, would there be any harm in plunking a PCI device directly into the PCI slot on a T5700 without the use of the riser board.
I'm thinking of maybe using a USB 2.0 card to see if there's any improvement to the call quality.
I don't own the riser card. They seem to be rare and overpriced.
Thanks for any insights.

It won't fit because the ports on the back of the motherboard block the space needed.
You either need a PCI riser or a PCI extension. Both can be found on ebay and other places, but make sure you pay attention to the space between the PCI slot and the back of the motherboard when shopping for one.
For example, the one below should work since it doesn't appear to need any additional space on either side

Thanks stroths, I was just wondering. Thanks also for the link. -Kevin N.
I bought an expansion kit for my t5720 which came with the riser card and an upgraded 50W power supply.
The PCI riser card that came in my kit looks alot shorter than the one in the previous post.
I put in a new PCI video card and there is no way I would have been able to install it without the expansion kit.
