Need Thin Client for Dummies
I just bought a Magic Jack ready WYSE Wintern from Ebay. I thought it would come with some sort of instructions but no. I'm clueless as to how to set it up. I connected to my router...plugged in the MJ and powered up....nothing happened. So I connected my monitor to see what was going on and the screen had an error message in white text about not finding a boot device. What does that mean? Assistance will be most greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am not familiar with the Wyse Wintern; however, generally speaking, not having a boot device usually means there is no hard drive, or a device acting as a hard drive, such as a flash drive, installed. It is also possible you might have a boot device installed but the operating system is not properly installed or missing. Time to check the Wyse web site for more info on that Wintern.
You might also open the unit and check for loose cable connections for the boot device or to see if you actually have a boot device.

Not sure about Wyse, but if it behaves like any other PC, when you first boot it up, you have an option to go into the BIOS settings by pressing a Function key (at boot up). You only have a few seconds to do this before windows starts to load. When you get to the boot setup, look for the menu item that sets the first boot device, you neede it to be not the USB key (can't remember what the flash drive is called in the bios). Likely when the person set it up for you, they forgot to turn off booting from a USB flash drive.bonniew88 wrote:...error message in white text about not finding a boot device.

Re-image it
Did you buy from this seller "staplesand77" on ebay? I had some difficulties but the best thing to do is re-image your Wyse. Re-image will solve 99.9% of magicjack problems. PM me your e-mail address and/or phone number and I will walk you through the process. If you can get to the BIOS, by holding down the "delete" key, during the boot-up then you will be fine. It's pretty easy to put it back to manufacture settings w/ XPe SP2.
I was fortunate to get help on Wyse V90 from a previous buyer on E-bay and was kind enough to answer my concerns.
By the way, there's a sticky's dummy guide to installing HP thin client. The general information can be applied to Wyse system and generally all thin client.

Hi,
I would like to know what difficulties did you face buying from that eBay seller (staplesand77). Was the transaction bad?. Just wanted to make sure before I go for the auction. Is the Wyse V90 that you bought from this seller working perfectly w/ MJ?
