MJ on the EeePC!
So I went into BJ's Wholesale Club last night with my wife to buy some gum for her students (she's a teacher) and I decided to peruse the electronics section out of mild curiosity. So what did I stumble across but an Eee PC by ASUS for only $245! Not too shabby at all!
Now I was planning to buy one of these things to run my MJ anyway as they use even less power than most Thin Clients, but come with a screen so I don't have to mess around with anything like a KVM switch. However, I thought, after taxes or shipping I'd be paying over $300 for one--which is a lil' steep.
So anyway, I got the EeePC 2G Surf, which is just a TINY laptop with a little 2GB solid state HDD in it that is essentially designed for surfing the web and general word processing. I stuck Windows XP Pro on it today (I'm in the process of updating right now and it comes with Linux) and I'll be trying it out with the MJ tonight. I don't forsee any problems, so I figured I'd toss this out there as a good idea of some dedicated machine to run your MagicJack.
(Oh, and I can just take the whole set-up with me--including the computer if I decide I want to when I travel--it's TINY. The thing fits in my laptop bag with my other laptop also inside.)

I have one of these Aspire too, but MJ doesn't work proper. Have XP with SP3. Had anyone possibly the same problem and a solution ....jwryahoo wrote:Hi,
Sounds great. I purchased a new Acer Aspire One with the XP HOme and 120 gig HDD. Magic Jack works perfect with it. The Aspire One is about the same size as yours as well. Great for travel.

Please tell us what exactly do you mean by "MJ doesn't work proper". Can it see the 2 drives created by the MJ? Does the MJ softphone start up?habakuk tibatong wrote:I have one of these Aspire too, but MJ doesn't work proper. Have XP with SP3. Not working with Aspire One
My sister has the Aspire One. She installed the MJ and encountered the two dirves problem. The MJ refused to continue when the the computer installed the two drives and no program lanching. Can somebody help me out?
