phone operates in simplex ??

anyone know why my magic jack operates in simplex yet when i talked to another mj phone he was in duplex.running xp through a wirless router.cell and land lines are simplex both ways??running remote usb extension.ext.power.everything else is working fine.unit is less than 1 yr. old any ideas??
