What prevented HP TC to use magic Jack--- MJ cannot connect

One TC can browse internet, but MJ said cannot connect to the internet.

Live chatted with MJ help center, they asked to download ugprade, when I try to run upgrade, it said it is not a valid win32 application.

This Thin Client was tested fully on another location, works fine.

Anybody has insight on this issue?

I have exactly the SAME problem and have been unable to resolve it. I can communicate with MJ online help ON THIS TC, but the MJ cannot find the internet connection on the same TC and yet this same MJ works fine on two other computers. It MUST be something to do with the TC 5700

Do you guys have either the windows or sygate firewalls enabled?

Sygate firewall is disabled.

I don't know how to check window firewall.

Can you tell me?

If the firewall was enabled, would that allow us to talk with the online help deck but NOT for MJ to connect?

very weird, internet is working, can get into magicjack.com, and other address, just cannot run upgrade.exe with error not a win32 applicaitoin and magic jack cannot connect to internet.

Go to "Network Connections" right click on your connection then select "Properties" then pick the "Advanced" tab. Windows firewall will be there if installed.

Depending on how the firewall is configured yes. Online help is via a web page and uses port 80 but the softphone needs 80, 443, 5060 and others for RTP to function.

I went into network connection, right click the connection and properties, advanced, and windows firewall, then I clicked settings, it said : the requested feature is not available. I logged in as Adminsitrator.

Please help.

Sounds as though the Windows firewall is not installed and if sygate is not enabled then only thing I can think of is that perhaps your router firewall may be blocking the ports.

Easy way to test that is to place the TC ip in the DMZ in your router temporarily and check to see if MJ works then. If it does then you'll know that is where the problem is. Do Nt do a commit while the TC is in the DMZ but rather take it back out of the DMZ and then reboot the TC to clear out any junk you may have gotten while it was in the DMZ.

There is no router, only cable direct plug into the thin client.

No wireless router.

I also had this problem. I spent about 5 hours with magicjack tech support before we resolved it.
First I reformatted the magicjack. Then I used regedit to delete the entries for the magicjack usb drives - HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Enum/USBSTOR/
CdRom&Ven_YMAX&Prod_MagicJack&Rev and Disk&Ven_YMAX&Prod_MagicJack&Rev (could be TigerJet instead of YMAX for these two)
I went to EWF and committed after I made these changes (not sure if it was necessary)

The tech then refreshed my account at his end. He asked me to turn off both the the thin client and router for 20 minutes. After that I restarted the thin client without magicjack plugged in. I plugged it in after 5 more minutes and all was fine :D

I mentioned that it took several hours to resolve the problem. To their credit the techs (several were involved) were always very courteous. However I don't think they know what a thin client is and the differences between Windows XP and XPe.
