My MJ suddenly started being garbled. I rebooted MJ, still there, rebooted computer, still there, rebooted router, still there, rebooted bridge units, still there. Finally, turned my 2 switches off/on and the garble went away and has stayed garble free for 48 hours.
Never heard of a switch causing this kind of problem before, but thought it might help someone else if I posted my solution.

Switches
A switch is like a hub for connecting different pieces of equipment to a LAN.
For example: I have an aircard that goes into my router. My router connects to a 21 port switch that my ATA card, network printer, 3 computers, 3 video cameras, and a bridge for connecting 2 different LAN systems together all go to.
I hope that this helps you.

Garbled still around - Multi switches / routers ?
The latest update to MJ was installed on Thursday [August 6] and the garble had gotten managable, but was still bad. The new load of the software fixed a lot of things and the garble is now less.
I am installing a new 48 port gigabyte switch ... in the server world it's a no-no to use multi-switches from a router...if you want it to work.
Hoping this will fix all things MJ.

Garble all but gone + Some bad news on fax line
Second: The really, really bad news. [It may be old news to forum and MJ gods]
MJ support today, at my insistence, changed my Ooma hub to my Ooma Scout. What I wanted was for them to ask for my main number for them to ID me and my account. I guess they are giving the "account number" as whatever number the Hub has.
I ported my number. I have had it for seven(7) years.
What a nightmare! They insist that the Hub be a fax line. Then they ask for your main Ooma number. Well that's not my fax line a number I got from THEM 3 months ago.
So, I said fix it.
Well, they fixed it all right. Now everyone calling on my main number gets a fax squeal in their ear.
Somebody figure out a good name for a thread on this problem. I have wires everywhere and I am going crazy tying to fix this problem.

Am I the only one confused by this? What does MJ have to do with ooma?mazda323man wrote:First the good news, Since the "Normal (High Speed..." appeared in the upper left hand corner of the smart phone the garble has gradually disappeared.

Nope, you're not the only one... Perhaps this person has an Ooma and a mJ, and they don't play nicely together. Although for the life of me, I wouldn't know why.hsweiss wrote:Am I the only one confused by this? What does MJ have to do with ooma?

Dope, yes getting more each year, it seems!
I thought I had posted about that foul up. But, for the record I have 4 MagicJack lines and 2 Ooma lines. And it has stirred up some discussion. I am adding another high speed internet connection.
We have suppliers who's cost point for referbs is about $12 for a magic jack. I plan to add about three more with that price.
But, It always seems to be a problem to get them working. The geiger counter sound I have occurs mainly on the ring. It worry's me that maybe it somehow interferance with the Ooma.
Unlikely, but any other MJ users have any ideas?
