Still having issues with magicjack, please help!!!!!

Post by babybass22 »

Posted this (below) yesterday and it's still doing the same thing. Also I forgot to add that I do not use the extention usb chord the magicjack came with. I heard that they cause a lot of problems. Anyway, if anyone can help me that would be great. This is my only phone line so it's very important to have it working correctly as I have 2 very little boys here and my Hubby is deployed. :(

My magicjack and phone were working perfectly an hour ago, now when I call paople they say I am breaking up real bad, they cant understand me. I tried taking the magicjack out of the USB port and re-plugging it back in and that still did not help, we just bought our magicjack a month ago! My phone has no damage so I know it's not my phone, like I said it was working fine an hour ago. Does anyone know some other little trick I can try? Or why is it doing this? Thank You.

I figured it out, lol. It was because I had two laptops + my pc connected to the internet at the same time. As soon as I shut off my laptops to give them a break my phone started working, thank you so much for your help though :) it is greatly appreciated!

Unless you are on a relatively low-speed DSL (e.g., 768 Kb), the other machines should not affect the conversation since MJ uses less than 100Kb of bandwidth. I would run virus and malware scans on the other machines if they are hogging bandwidth with no one using them. Just as an example, I typically have 3-4 machines connected all the time and carry on MJ conversations with no impact at all (and I've got teens on the other computers). In fact, I continue to use the computer with MJ connected to it during a conversation with little or no impact and its a 1.1 GHz Celeron processor with only 512M ram - very underpowered for today's world. But my internet connection is 10Mb down and 2Mb up Fios connection so I'm not close to swamping my available bandwidth.
