I'd like that too - to be able to set how many rings, then forward to my GC account. MJ VM sucks! Great VoIP though considering price!

GrandCentral will pick up the voice mail since magicJack voicemail does not press 1 to accept the call

Of course, this is what CS says about this issue today:
George: Hello, how may I help you?

GuyOnTheAir: Is there any way to disable the voicemail?

George: I am sorry GuyOnTheAir, magicjack voicemail can not be deactivated at the moment.

George: Neither we can change the number of rings before forwarding calls to the voicemail

George: Our engineers are working on this feature, and soon ,we will have this facility with magicjack .
I won't be holding my breath.

I would like to disable voicemail, too. This is what I have done as a workaround: I put a greeting on the voicemail that says, "I am not available right now. Please try to call again later. Goodbye." Then, I left it recording nothing for about two minutes to discourage anyone from leaving a message.

That's an idea. I have my greeting saying please don't leave a message, and even offer an alternative number used for messages. Be nice if people listened and followed the instructions.

*** I found a work around on how to increase number of rings ***

I have been searching for a way to disable the magic jack voice mail or increase the number of rings for a LONG time. The way I was doing it before was to set my own answering machine to pick up after 2 rings. It was a pain, but it stopped people from going to the Magic Jack voice mail.

Today I decided to search again for a fix. I saw on some other forums about a tool called MagicBean http://www.magicjackbeans.com/ It was about $13.00 and it actually works. I set it up so my Magic Jack rings for 9 rings, and my Personal Answering Machine picks it up after 5 rings.

I don't know how it does it, but the only odd thing is that my phone will read out the phone number of who is calling and it will not say the last digit. Also if I hang up the call, sometimes the phone will still ring. It is still a great workaround. This program does a bunch of stuff too, but I am just using it to hide the magic jack window, and to increase my number of rings.

I am not affiliated with MagicBean or MagicJack, just someone who is TOTALLY STOKED that there is a workaround for this.

I sure hope MagicJack takes some notes and allows their own program to do this. Its lame I have to pay someone else $13.00 for a feature that should already be supported.

jmhuff I do agree with you that is it is really lame that MagicJack customers have to pay a 3rd party for a feature that could have easily been included as a basic feature. All MagicJack customers should email the company and explain to them that a 3rd party is profiting by adding a few simple features that are not currently offered. Dan Borislow who is the owner of the company seems to be a pretty shrewd businessperson and would not likely tolerate a 3rd party indirectly profiting at the expense of his customers.

MagicBeans does however provide several needed features but seems to be severely overpriced at $13.00. The $13.00 price tag for MagicBeans is 65% of the cost of MagicJack's yearly renewal rate. Why would MagicJack allow itself and its valued customers to be exploited by this side show Sam.

I will be emailing MagicJack about this situation and hope the rest of you guys and gals will do the same.

You are full of it! magicbeans is a great product that is going to help dan borislow sell magicjacks, and he won't even need to support it. I bought magicbeans 2 weeks ago shortly after it came out, and it is great. It's made magicjack complete with a whole slew of features. And it works 100% as is advertised on its website - granted the website is pretty colorful
But i don't think it is costing the buyer extra for all the colors

This MJ-Rules guy is the same guy who is posting his axe grindings on
DSL reports as JoelR, too. Get a life, man! We finally have some good working features for magicjack after 2 years of waiting for some of this stuff. Give vdot some credit, and some of your patronage.
