I'm a happy MJ user.
I wonder, is MJ planning to come out with an upgrade (firmware?) allowing your pc to go into standby while mj is plugged in and to have it wake up on ring, a feature on some motherboards. I read somewhere that they promised that.
... or is there a trick/hack for such feature.
I hate to leave my pc on all the time while i'm not actively using it, besides this will save lots of energy.
wake-up-on-ring upgrade?

Not possible. When the PC is asleep, there is no processing going on and the internet adapter is turned off. There would be no way for MJ to wake the computer up unless they could send a magic packet (predates MJ by at least 20 years) to wake up the computer. By the time the computer was ready for use the caller would be long gone.

Wake Up On Ring
You can't let your PC go into standby, but you can let your hard drive spin down. It will save wear on your hard drive. My monitor turns off in 10 min. and the hard drive turns off in 15min., so only the CPU and RAM are powered.

as stated RIGHT now that is not possible in current technology. BUT Intel is working on a usb chip that will when recieves a wake on lan type request it will bring the computer out of standby mode into normal mode.
I forgot the name of the chip but it is specifically designed for VOIP and other devices that need the coputer on to function.
So if someone to call you the chip would sense certain target packets and then power everything up (even in standbye the network controller is still active and recieving packets so even when your computer sleeps its still listening to network traffic). This serves two purposes
1) allows you to utilize standbye without sacrificing functionality.
2) makes available certain devices in your computer at all times in normal and standbye modes (hibernate mode is impossible since the computer is completely powered down and memory state is stored on hard drive. all other components are completely shut off)
This should be coming out soon in motherboards This will help magic jack eliminate one of its largest drawbacks
