Every time i try to order a movie with the reciever, keeps saying there is
no dial tone.
using the same phone line with my cordless, so there is a dial tone.
Caller Id also comes up on the reciever, so i know there is a phone
connection.
Been on the phone with dish for hours with NO results, in fact got hung up
on a couple of times.
Anyone else having these issues?
I have tried adding prefixes to the dish setup for the phone with no luck.
Help me if you can !!!!!

Re: Dish reciever
MJ software sometimes takes a second or two to pop up on the computer when a phone goes off hook.dhart94 wrote:Every time i try to order a movie with the reciever, keeps saying there is

Therefore, your sat may pick up and automatically expect dial tone. If it's not there, immediately (like a good POTS line would provide), it assumes the worst.
Try having the MJ softphone in focus on your PC before trying to order a movie. Or, pick up the phone first (listen for the dial tone), then push the "order" button on your sat receiver. You may have to work on the timing.
Edit: One other thing, just to be sure, plug a phone at the end of the cable that you plug into the sat receiver. Make sure you have dial tone, there. Crazy things can happen to cables.
Tried to call out with the reciever after getting dial tone with my handset.
The reciever actually made a connection and i could hear it calling out,
sounded like a fax machine, but then came back with the call failure
message.
Oh well, just have to order movies online.
There has got to be a way to fix this. Dish network is no help..

Okay. You're no longer dealing with a "no dial tone" problem. You're now dealing with the problem of modem/fax over VOIP. The MJ is particularly prone to this problem due to the specific codec it uses.
See if Dish can tell you how to lower the modem's speed settings to 9600bps or lower.
If not, it probably won't work, as you've found.
