Hi, I am new to this Forum, registered because of what happened yeaterday. When you call my magic jack number you get a recording that says: "The number you dialed is not in service, please check the number and dial again."
I opened up a support ticket with magic jack and just found out a few minutes ago that this is a wide spread problem among magic jack users - I am not the only person with this recording on their number - when someone tries to call them.
Anyone here's magic jack number affected by this? Allegedly their engineers are working on it.
It is possible your exchange is so new other phone companies are not seeing it yet. USUALLY it is something MJ and the phone serives can take care of. IF that is the problem...
Can another MJ user call you ok??

Maybe it is a server glitch. Happens every now and then and it clears up USUALLY in 24 hrs. I hope so...
Try using a differnt MJ server? I have heard MJ tech support ( IF you get the right one) can put you on a different server if you ask. Worth a shot anyway.
I find the MJ service to be quite unreliable, with 'no service' issues at least once a week. I am in the 424 area code. I have been without service - in or out - all day today.
484 area code here (PA). Havent had a single problem making or receiving calls...In fact in having MJ for over a year now never had that problem. ONLY problem was the beep issue last June, that's it. Lucky I guess.
I was searching the Net because my newly purchased MJ assigned number returns the phone company recording "number called is not assigned at this time". I received calls for a few days then yesterday the number assigned stopped working. Working with MJ support was frustrating; after three hours I was told my problem would be turned over to the engineers. I am thinking this is the old brush-off.
Anyone else have this problem; and how was it resolved?
I had this happen to me about a month ago. I chatted with MJ and they finally confirmed to me they were doing "upgrades" on their end and the problem would be resolved in a few hours. To their credit it was and things have been good since then.
It has been 24 hours since I first complained. I just initiated another chat and although the MJ rep was pleasant there was no resolving the issue, just a we will follow through with your concerns.
I just purchased this MJ on Jan-2. I received a call from a friend on Jan-3; then on Jan-4 no more incoming calls, just the standard message "The number you are calling is not in service at this time. Please check the area code and number and dial again. 2159L" I tried to find out what 2159L represented but no luck. Other than this issue, the MJ works fantastic.
I wonder if the problem has something to do with I am using the MJ while snowbirding in Florida, but registered it with a NY exchange and number for when I return home? I tried to have MJ give me a different number to try, but they wanted to count that as the one time shot to switch a number for free.
so, just to update this thread... I get this happening to me A LOT!. I have 6 MJ numbers that I use to forward my lines to different numbers and it happens a lot to me.
Just to update this thread. My MJ started working correctly about four weeks ago. I can now call the MJ number and not receive that annoying message that I complained about earlier.
