If I boot MagicJack from the computer rather than the dongle, is there a way to use a generic VOIP USB phone to talk and call??
Thanks
Will MagicJack Work With A USB VOIP Phone??
Moderators: Bill Smith, Pilot
I guess no one has an answer to this, I saw an inexpensive VOIP generic phone recently, that works with most VOIP services, and I thought I could eliminate the dongle, boot MJ from my hard drive and then just plug in the very small VOIP phone for talking, instead of hauling the cumbersome telephone I carry now in my suitcase when traveling.
Any help is appreciated.

Any USB phone you use with the current magicJack offering will ONLY work as a simple audio device at best (i.e. a glorified headset you hold to your ear like a phone). These are NOT integrated with the magicJack dialer.
As a known working alternative, you should consider using a "mini corded flip phone" with your magicJack USB dongle for traveling. They are really no bigger than a typical USB phone.
You can find them online by doing a Google on "Mini Flip Phone magicJack". Here's an Ebay listing that my Google search pulled up that at least shows a picture of the mini phone I am trying to describe.

I actually use one of these myself when traveling and sourced it from a local store some time ago. They are now easier to find online.
