Microsoft error message
I have had MJ for about 60 days with no problems, then a couple of days ago it started acting up. After one call I get the microsoft error message ""MagicJack USB Softphone has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" On the bottom right of the error message you get the choice to "Send Error Report" or "Don't Send" Click either one and MJ shuts down. I can restart MJ, make one call then get the message. Over the last two days I have spent 4 and 1/2 hours with chat and issue is not resolved. They said they have sent the problem to their engineers and will get back with me via email. I am not holding my breath waiting for that email. Also, I have tried the MJ on two other computers with the same results so I don't think it is my computer. Anybody have a similar problem or a fix?

Yes it happened to many. Try this: http://www.fileswap.com/share/11f253b8b ... 4.exe.html upgrade14.exe - 7.27 MB
version 1.80.4992.3499
run it. It's actually a roll back. MJ will re-update
but it might correct the problem.

I had the same problem. The only other thing I did was go to Microsoft and check for and down load updates. The problem stopped.

We are in the same boat..
Thanks for your post, a ray of hope in the distance:)
Hours upon hours of the online chat with no resolution in sight. One time they gave me the file that fixed it, but the auto "Upgrade" re-broke it and now it won't work again. They said that the new update was only for the contacts and that it couldn't crash the system, but It was working perfect for months until the upgrade. Here's my scenario:
I make a call.. the call quality is always choppy, and directly after the call Microsoft reports the softphone error and must be shut down.. like clockwork. Just before it shuts down, the contacts menu starts spinning the aarows and then soon crashes. Further evidence that its the contacts upgrade. I've talked to over 6 people and they always give me the same upgrade...ZZzz.. I told them to give the option to not upgrade or to revert in case the new upgrade completely disables its function.
I don't wish to go on forever but I thought I'd give a detailed report on my trial as to explore what has and has not worked
Good luck to us all and what a great site!

I guess we should all complain to MJ about that dang update. See if we can get them to can it (the update) or at least make it optional for those with contact problems.
I have had some luck today (knocking on wood) with clearer calls, I guess because I disabled my anti virus.
Now I will just have to remember to enable it if I venture out side of my usual trusted places.

Cleared call logs..
So they had me disable Avira and firewall, run upgrade, clear call logs and restart. I had my first clear un-interupted call in 5 days. No crash as of yet. Will post with further progress.
I think we have a winner :)
Works so far. I turned off the firewall and the antivirus to install the update. Deleted the call log, restarted the MJ and its been working now without incident. They also had me do some port configurations towards the end to re-enable to firewall and the antivirus. Now, everything works good. Not one crash
Don't know why this would be but I deleted my call log this morning and then have made two calls without the error. After the calls the contacts circle for about 1 second but then stop. In the past they would keep circling then the error message would come up. Maybe MJ did something on their end but for now it seems to be working!
