Hello all,
Is there any way around the following three things, particularly the last one?
1. My phone receiver hook has gone "sticky" with MJ and doesn't hang up unless clicked several times. Softphone would be faster to hang up, but I'm not making my calls through that. Any way to ameloriate this?
2. All calls, even local, must be dialed with area code. Is this particular to all VOIP, and is there any way around this? Would've been nice to know this going in.
3. It's really not compatible with forwarding from Google Voice if you want to use Google's voicemail for the transcription, due to lack of ring time adjustment. Google voicemail doesn't kick in until 25 seconds, which is longer than the 3 rings specified by MJ. Am I completely wrong here, or is there a way around this?
Many thanks to everyone who replies.

Several workarounds for #2 in the forums. Easiest for me was "MagicFeatures". I think it $9.95 plus it has lots of other goodies. Check for redpepper posts.
Don't know about the others.
BTW multiple postings not necessary.

For number 3 you can extend the number of rings MJ takes to pick up voicemail. Its described in detail in the forums. Problem is if your MJ loses connection, MJ's voicemail will pick up immediately. No way around that, that's on the MJ servers end. That combined with how long it takes to connect calling out to Google Voice is the reason I stopped using MJ with Google Voice.
The work around for number 3 is a bit tricky if your not use to messing around with computers. The easiest way to get all of these is through magicfeatures for 7 digit dialing and magicbeans for transferring calls or disabling voicemail. You can use google voice as your voicemail if you are comfortable with the registry hack or transfer to your google voice number after 4 rings (using magicbeans). Make sure your google voice number is set to ring your MJ number and your all set. You can use both magicbeans and magicfeatures together but after you have your call transferring is setup how you like it you can turn off magicbeans and the call transferring will continue to work.

The free fix for 7-digit dialing can be found just a few posts down from this one:

I use this method on my mJ fax line with great results. If you convert the script to an exe you can write a simple vb script to launch with a delay at startup so you do not have to manually start it every time. I will post details on this in the original thread if you are interested...
