Dial tone -- Tiger560 hardware SDK

Post by Steven W »

Okay have a Uniden DECT 1560, no dial tone....

Installed Tiger560 hardware SDK:

http://www.tjnet.com/software/ip_phone/hardwaresdk.htm

Started up the software...It killed MJ...Switch the setting under Tip/Ring Polarity to reverse...dial tone. Restarted MJ, dial tone works still no ringing from the phone...Rebooting the computer and the setting is lost. Is there some way to preserve the setting. Would taking a phone line and reversing the red/green pair do the same thing?

Does anyone know anything about this software or this setting? I have to fire this up and modify this setting to dial (only way to get dial tone) using the real phone. I've tried two phones...same thing. Reversing the Red-Green pair did not work. The tech support over at the MJ site is a freaking joke!

If you tried a different brand and model phone and still have the problem, chances are that your USB port is slightly underpowered. You will also want to make sure you have tried using a different good quality telephone cord that is 6 feet or less in length.

Try plugging your magicJack directly into other USB ports on your computer (i.e. no hub or USB cable extender) and see if that sorts the issue. On some computers and laptops, certain USB ports get a bit more juice than others - believe it or not.

As a benchmark, also try your magicJack USB dongle on another computer (preferably not a laptop for the purposes of troubleshooting). If all the latter troubleshooting tests fail, your magicJack USB dongle has a subtle hardware fault and should be replaced.
