Please, wait...

Post by kirtikar »

My MagicJack was working fine until a few weeks ago.

Now, all I see on the status window of the MJ screen is "Please, wait..." and nothing happens. After several minutes, the message changes to "please connect to the internet and double click here".

Then it makes me login to a website, and the window disappears after logging in.

I have done this several times, but this just does not proceed to the next step.

Could someone please help?

You needed to read the WHOLE thread :)

A new link was provided, 2 in fact.
Here is 1:

Since MJ removed it from their web page we had to come up with a way for others to get it.

Tech support is asking me to install this utility:

http://www.hotspotshield.com/downloads/ ... e=na&p=ftp

It looks like an unneccessary service having nothing to do with my problem! I dont want to sign up for any service, just to get my MJ problem solved

Michaela: Click here and install hotspot.

Amol: What will installing hotspot do?

Michaela: It can fix your Please Wait error.

Amol: It says foreign country fix. I am not in a foreign country

Michaela: It's okay.

Michaela: Wait.

Michaela: Click here for hotspot instead.

Amol: In order to use this software I need to agree to the Hotspot service agreement. I do notwant to sign up for any service, even if it is free

Amol: could you tell me a manual fix for my problem?

Michaela: Just launch it Amol.

Amol: I cannot launch it without agreeing to the terms and conditions. Pressing I Agree means I am signing up for the Hotspot Service

Michaela: Okay.

Michaela: Please unplug your magicJack then plug it back after 2 minutes to other USB port. Try using and not using the extension cord.

What country do you live in? Hotspotshield is a vpn virtual private network that masks your internet connections. It is used by people who's isp's block certain type's of internet activity like voip. If you live in a country where they block voip then this may be your only way to get MJ to work. Hotspot shield is one of many vpn's and has been discussed on this forum before. One of the problems using a vpn is the connection to MJ may become distorted and your call quality can suffer. The other thing as well is your isp may eventually block hotspotshield all together. My sister in Dubai has friends who have experienced this. Their solution has been to setup a vpn with friends in the states and use them for their voip connections. If your isp does block voip then this is going to be your only solution and it will be an ongoing fight as the isp continues to find and block people from using these services.

Dear All,

Thank you for your thoughta.

I traced the problem to a firewall on the Qwest DSL modem. after disabling it, MJ started working.

Good job!!!!
Did something change 2 weeks ago in your firewall which caused this? Did you by accident raised the level of firewall protection in your router to something higer than what it was? Just curious.
