You might want to check the Device Manager, right-click on USB Root Hub, click on Properties, click on Power Management tab and make sure to uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Do that for all the USB Hubs. See if that helps.

Mine dose the same when plugged direct to puter. If I plug into a powered usb and give it a jump start the next day it works plugged into to puter. MJ is like a ford, you just have to know which tire to kick....

I have a similar issue - I finally tracked it down to a memory problem. Seems like my Gigabyte MB may be having a problem with the memory controller and periodically generating random errors - this is causing the MJ to stop as if it were unplugged and plugged in again. It is also causing other problems but that seems to be one of the clues that it is happening.

I have increased the (G)MCH voltage in the BIOS and so far (24 hours) so good. I need to go a week before I can say it fixed it.

I would recommend formatting the magicJack device.

Good luck.
