What I did was get a Prepaid T-Mobile phone and port my landline to it so I wouldnt lose it until I can get it were I want it.

That sounds like a good idea, do you have to use it at all, (the tmobile phone) so it doesn't expire?

I would like to also keep my landline but just because i have dsl and if i change to dry loop then its 10$ a month, so if i can keep my phone number and redirect it maybe to magicjack for 10$ or less a month it would be great. I am located in montreal, qc, canada.

I'm also in Montreal. I have a bell landline, Bell TV and Bell Sympatico. My magicjack has been working so well I called to inquire about cancelling my landline.
They gave me my basic landline for $15 a month (I was paying $35!!), They also gave me $10 a month off my internet for 12 months and gave me 50% off my bell satellite for 6 months!!.
It turned out to be cheaper to keep the landline then cancel. Now I can evaluate magicjack for a full year before I commit.

I haven't used this service nor have I heard anything about it - I just tried typing the URL: parkmyphone.com (I didn't make it a link on purpose)

They say it's as low as $3/mo on their site.

T-Mobile prepaid is cool because I have the pay as you go and I can put a $10 card on my phone and then just leave it alone don't have to use the minutes as they don't expire for a year so I don't pay monthly charges or anything and people can call my old number and leave messages and I check it with my Magicjack phone remotely. I also use the phone really as a pager so if someone calls me I just call them back if I want to speak with them or I answer the call and just put more minutes on it is I want. A big plus is my old number is now mobile and I didn't lose it I can always port it back to a land line service. I have had that number for 6 years and everyone has it.

Other cool perks is that it is a GSM network so I can use any unlocked GSM phone from any GSM network and have fun with it. I can use a unlocked iPhone and use the free wifi from places to use my magicjack sip info to call people back while I am on the road instead of using my minutes or surf the web.

I went into a store and the guy told me you couldn't port you landline to a prepaid phone. Did you get it at a store, website, or call tmobile?

I had a prepaid phone with a prepaid number. Then I called T-Mobile and spoke with the people over the phone and they ported my number from Comcast. did it within 24hours. I was impressed.

So do you think you can just get a prepaid sim and put it in an unlocked phone and they can port the #?

We ported our home phone# to my T-Mobile cell phone. My wife had the # for 30 years, so we didn't want to lose it by switching to Magic Jack.
