SPA2102 Stopped Working w/ Magicjack. Was There an Update?

Post by JOFTAA »

Sorry to post this in two places. I realized after my first post that I should have posted this here. Please feel free to dump my last post and combine the responses into one thread.

Very odd. Yesterday afternoon at about 10am ET, I was on a call using my cordless phone plugged into my SPA2102. When I hung up from the call, I tried to make another call but there was no dial tone.

I checked my settings just to be sure nothing happened, and even changed to a spare SPA2102 that I had already setup for my MJ.

No dial tone, still.

Forward to today. Still nothing in the way of dial tone.

Is there anyone else out there having the same issue?

I do not use a thin client. I am just using an SPA2102 plugged into my router with DD-WRT firmware. Never had a problem until yesterday.

I am really hoping that MJ did not just wipe out my ability to use the SPA2102. I would hate to think I have to have a dedicated computer running for MJ now.

Any reliable info would be great.

Thank you.

I'm running fine with my pap2. I have made and received a few calls in the last couple of days without any problems.

Did you reboot you WW-DDRT Router? If not, unplug your SPA2102 and reboot the Router and then plug back in your ATA. My SPA-3102 still works for both incoming and outgoing.

Thank you for the tip, but no joy.

I powered down my DSL modem and router. Also pulled the power on the SPA2102.

Then, powered up the modem, and router. Waited for Internet access and powered up the SPA.

Still no dial tone.

To add more info. When I look at the web interface of the SPA2102, I can see the status change when the phone is on/off hook. I can also see where the registration state says failed.

For some reason or another, the registration is not working. I have not changed the user/pass, or any other info in the SPA. And, upon examination, I see the info is still there.

I appreciate the help. I am stumped.

How about today? Any outbound calls today? Just for giggles, would you mind changing your proxy to Miami? I wonder if there is something going on with the proxy.

Thanks.

My DD-WRT Router is set to the Miami proxy:

/jffs/mjp/bin/mjproxy 0.0.0.0 5070 proxy01.miami.talk4free.com 5070 MJPassword.

Your SPA2102 "Proxy and Registration" Proxy should point to your DD-WRT Router:

192.168.1.XX:5070

I think the problem is at your end. Double check your settings and make sure your Router is not blocking anything. My setting is working fine today...just checked!

Interesting. I have never done it that way before. I don't have any settings for MJ in my DD-WRT router. All of the settings have always been in the SPA2102.

I have to get some shuteye now. I am in Europe, so I am going to pickup on this tomorrow.

Additional info:

I have hit a brick wall.

I updated my router firmware with: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/10/09) voip

I did the settings for JFFS2 and Telenet Management. I downloaded Putty, and when I run it I get to the login prompt. Once I am logged into the router, I put in the command

ipkg install http://download843.mediafire.com/sdzqjs ... mipsel.ipk

I got that link by following the instructions in the thread http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/ddwr ... t6913.html.

Anyway, this is where it stops working for me. I get the following message:

ERROR: Failed to retreive http://download843.mediafire.com/sdzqjs ... mipsel.ipk, returning

I tried twice, using two different links that were generated at the site: http://www.mediafire.com/?ky3kndgwnei

Since I could not get anything to work, I decided to try another version. Now I have Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/10/09) std

I do not see a way to enable JFFS2 in that firmware revision. Am I missing it?

I am failing right now, but not for lack of reading or trying. I have a WRT160N v1. I am hoping that someone can tell me which firmware I should be using to make this work.

Thanks, everyone.
