Just playing around this weekend and got Voxox working on my ata. They don't officially support ata's but for $2.45 you get 3000 minutes a month to call US and Canadian numbers. You can also go with the payg option which is free incoming but a penny per minute for outgoing. Not a bad deal but certainly less work than using MJ with an ata. Also they do support faxing with their softphone but DO NOT not use the ata and softphone at the same time. You can also spoof your caller id with them and have googlevoice type call screening features as well as others. Almost forget the sip credentials are proxy:Sip01-west.voxox.com
password: what you use to create the account "NOT" the password you use for the softphone
username:1your voxox did
Hope this helps some people that are having trouble getting their MJ sip credentials or provide a cheap alternative.
Voxox on ata working

I had to create a password to activate the account then have a different password for the softphone. Worst case you could always try and create another account at least it's free. The ata will show registered if you use the softphone password but you will not be able to make or receive calls. How they know the difference I don't know but the password I'm using is the one I used to create the account. I used wireshark with the softphone and did see an "encrypted handshake" or something like this if my memory is correct. This is probably where they verify the different password but this is just a guess on my part. On a side not the call quality is surprisingly good for a cheap service. They credit a dollar into your account to start off (at least they did for me) and so far it's been just as good as MJ with an ata. The only downside is their short ring time before their voicemail picks up. No matter what I try (softphone or ata) nothing seems to be able to increase the ring time. The best work around I've found is to just show your google voice number as your caller id to avoid the 2 or so rings they have before the voicemail picks up.mj777 wrote:my voxox shows registered, but i get 'invalid password' when dialing out and incoming goes to voxox vm. i only ever had one password from them; do you know how to obtain the proper sip password for voxox numbers ? thanks to anyone who can solve this.
maybe they have changed things; the only thing i needed to activate it was a 4 digit pin sent to a cell phone; is that what you are talking about ? i too could not find it in wireshark, i can only see the md5 nonce. so i am at a loss, on setting up another they only ask for one password which is what you use on the softphone. thanks for the help though.

Hey sabresfan,
Can you clarify what you mean about a different password for your softphone?
During my account creation, I was only prompted to input 1 password. It is the password I use to log into the VoxOx client. I am trying to integrate VoxOx into a system I have here at work, and need the settings to log into it.
I am using
Username: The full Telephone Number given to me.
Password: Account creation password.
Server: sip01-west.voxox.com
It registers but will not make/receive calls. As soon as I try outgoing calls it just hangs up. The client I am using is softPhone (just using for testing).
Any ideas?

When I created my Voxox account awhile back I had to use a password to create the account (different than the password to login into the softphone). Unless something has changed since then that I'am not aware of in their registration process it should be the same. This is for using Voxox with an ata. It should be a different password for the softphone than the password used to create the account. I had to make sure I wrote down both passwords to remember which one was which. If it's the password you use to sign into the Voxox softphone it's the wrong password. My ata will register with the softphone password but it is unable to make and receive calls. Perhaps I'm one of the lucky ones (that would suck for others because the voice quality is great) that can get this to work with an ata. The other thing you might want to try is changing the registration time to a lower time limit. I have mine set to 180 and everything has worked.
