Pause in Contacts Phone number

Is there a way to put a pause into a contacts phone number? I would like to dial a number, then wait for the phone to be answered, then enter a code.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Try a comma (,) in the dial string
Let us know how it works

tried that, it just strips the commans out.
