I would like to buy a MJ which is WINDOWS 7 ready and does not need to be updated --
How do I make sure that this is the case if I buy it from EBAY or from the manufacturer--
When you ask someone from EBAY, they do not seem to know and of course , I cant seem to get the answer from the mfr, unless , i just cant find it --
Your help would be appreciated-- Thanks,,,,Ralph

Dumb me! I didn't even think my old mJ which I used on XP home ver wouldn't work on anything else. I simply plugged it in and... viola! Same as always! You really shouldn't have any trouble. Mine seems to be using the Vista file which came with it - no problems. Unless there is something you know that we newbies should learn?

Any properly operating Magicjack is designed to sense its current operating system environment. This bootup info is carried on the internal memory of the MJ dongle, so no external software is required.
When inserting the dongle into a suitable computer that is connected to a reliable internet connection the bootup software activates and downloads the proper payload from the MJ servers.
This is usally all that is required to allow you to continue the simple registration process and start making calls.
YMMV, that's why we're here. This forum documents hundreds of workimg Win7/MJ setups and also the cures for potential problems.
Buy locally.....
Good Luck

MJ W7 READY
It is not necessarily true that the new comp recognizes the MJ and just runs it as W7 and that is the reason for my query-
My original MJ would not work on my new W7 computer and I had to go through a hassle to update or upgrade it and even then , it says that I have VISTA when I don't-- Yes, it works --
To use MJ now, I had to install an ICON on My desktop and click it to be able to use it- Previously , I only needed to start my computer to get it to work--
Based On the above , it appears to me that if I could buy a new MJ which immediately shows that it is W7, everything would be great --
So , Once again , has anybody purchased a new MJ that displayed W7--- Maybe they don't have it yet-- Did it say W7 ok on the package , Or did it only say XP, and VISTA?
kind of funny , I asked this same question to MJ over the chat , and the reply I got was they can't answer.
Thank you,,,,, Ralph
