SIPHON 2.3 RC1 working on iphone

Post by neo2121 »

This is the newest release of Siphon and it has been patched to work with magicjack......but, there's always a but I cant get it to make calls, it registers fine but crashes when I dial a number and try and place a call. Just wondering if anyone else has the same problem. If you need to know how to install it as its not on cydia yet I can post instructions.

Well you can get it from the google code project. I have uploaded it here

http://code.google.com/p/siphon/downloads/list

You Will need to have a jailbroken iphone and open SSH installed. First you will need to get the file on your Iphone some how I just used winSCP and put it in root. Then you need to run this command to make it install

"dpkg -i /path/to/deb" with the path to where you put the file

kind of like

"dpkg -i /tmp/Siphon-2.3rc4.deb"
you will need to respring the iphone

it registers just fine but crashes after I dial a number. there are only a few settings that you need to change to make it register.

WOW it's working fine for me!!! THANKS!!!
You need to change a few settings...
Server = talk4free.com
Enable Nat = off
Proxy Server = proxy1.city.talk4free.com:5070 --> city = your city!

instead of 67.90.16.6 try proxy1.tampa.talk4free.com:5070

I was able to make a call and also to receive a call...

I will test the audio quality on the weekend :)

Same problem still...app crashes. I've tryed like every setting combination... Oh well hopefully someone has a solution cause this will be awesome sincce mjmd5 doesn't work good for more than one call with an iphone / itouch without having to restart the mjmd5 proxy.

I tested the voice quality and it's working OK... if it's working for me it should work for you... it does not crash on me.

I downloaded the app directly from the Google code project and got the mentioned settings from there too.

I uninstalled the Shipon version that I had from Cydia, turn the iphone off then on, put the app in /tmp using winSCP then from the winSCP command window "dpkg -i /tmp/Siphon-2.2.1a2.deb". Then waited a couple of minutes, turned the iphone off and then on, input the listed settings and it's working fine.

I have an Iphone 2G still at 3.0

good luck to you!

Well I have a 8gb 3g I'm on version 3.1.2 and I can't get it to make a call I install just as you have I have tried with a clean restore and jailbreak still with the same results. I'm going to submit it as a bug to google code. Thanks for testing it also hope you enjoy it on the iPhone.

Okay i have tried just about everything I can think of but in the dialer it states service not available and then it states not found unfortunately I did not try and get my SIP until after the latest update so it has been difficult. I did install the newest version of Siphon and my method might be easier for some.

Step one download the new siphon
step two download from the app store Free wifi HD
Step three download iFile if you dont already have it
transfer the file from your desktop to your iphone via the Free Wifi HD app
Open iFile and navigate to applications Free Wifi HD you will see the file open it. it will give you 2 options 1 is installer one is unzip i simply clicked installer rebooted the phone and viola there it was. This is good for anyone not wanting to mess with terminal.

Anyway if anyone has an idea as to why I get the not found error I would love to hear it even if it is bad news at least then I can move on..

On a side note with Fring I get userid or password error

wow got it working!!

i had the same problem, it kept crashing everytime i dial..
i uninstalled it and installed it back but the same problem

so i started to play around with it..
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I DID and i dont what made it work, so try it the same way...

-i went to settings > siphone > advanced settings > and then enable nat
- opened siphon and INSTEAD of dialing number, called some1 from my contact list and it gave me call ended
- went back to advanced settings and disabled nat
- opened siphon and called some1 from my contact list.. and gues what!!
it worked
.. and after that i can even dial from keypad and it works

what i think made it work is making your first call from contact list INSTEAD of keypad... so try that before tryin enable/disable nat

let me know how it goes for you and if it helps

and thanks to all to put the instructions on how to install it..

Well after trying several different things it may have come down to user entry error on my end. I am now able to use this and make phone calls I no longer am using mjmd5 like i was before also.

This is working like a charm

I set server to talk4free.com
and then my proxy to the actual ip like so 67.90.16.6:5070
NAT is off
MagicJack is On

and I am working at this point so I do not intend to mess with any settings.

Wow, I just installed and tried this and it works most of the time - there are occasions with no audio after dialing whether NAT is on or off (off happens less). Always works for the 1st call after running Siphon.

I'm now curious and wondering why this works. Is it because the added noonce/md5 stuff to your credentials is happening in the Siphon hack the same way as how they get it in routers that support dd-wrt ?

Will it work on / with iPhone 3GS v3.1.3 ?? Anyone tried this yet? Also, does it work on simple AT&T full 3G Data reception? Or this setup only works on WiFi? Thanks in advance!

Siphon

Post by Kenny2469 »

So I have been reading through the posts for some time and messing around, and i've come to a blockage...

I have my username and password and Siphon installed...
When loaded, it shows the proxy on the left, and on the right
it shows "Not Found"

When I attempt to dial a number, it just says Call Ended.

My settings are as follows:

Username: E**********01
Password: *****************
Server: proxy1.tampa.talk4free.com (also tried with :5070)
and different cities (im from vancouver, also didnt work with that)

ADVANCED:
reg timeout: 3600
Proxy Server: same as server in main settings above, again with
different vartiations to city, etc...

Enable nat: ON (also tried off)
auth username: E**********01
MagicJack: ON

Is there anything Im missing??? Just cant get er to go.....

Ok with siphon installed go to cydia and uninstall it. Then clear all settings in the settings section. Then reinstall it. That is what I did and it worked.

@paulito
You don't even need wifi if you just download and install 3g unrestrictor or toggle use over 3g

@Spider210
I don't think that the developer for this application going to port this to android. But there is this http://sipdroid.org/ if you do a search under all issues and look for magicjack you will find a guy that says he has it working with MJ I haven't tried this app out but you should and let us know how it went for you.

sipdroid would work great but everything that I read you got to use mjproxy. I would like to not have to use mjproxy for one cause I have to leave a compute on and 2 seems like i gotta 'stop' and 'start' mjmd5 alot to keep it working

I have e-mailed the project owner for sipdroid and asked him if he would be interested in adding support for magicjack. I told him if he would magicjackhacks.net would make a donation to the project.
