circumventing VoIP blocking imposed by ISP

Post by ZaPHoN »

I stumbled onto something tonight and thought I'd share it to see if anyone has had any experience.

http://www.speed-voip.com/

several ISPs are blocking or degrading this service in order to force a consumer to use a ISP sponsored service. States such as the UAE block this technology outright while US corporations, such as Clearwire, claim that they might degrade the quality of competing services by adding choppy and delayed services.

SpeedVoIP is a leader in circumventing VoIP blocking imposed by ISP or Telco. For vision of Net Neutrality, VoiceGuard™ is created to address a growing number of ISPs who either degrade or block voice services over their networks. VoiceGuard™ gives choice back to the subscribers or customers of ITSP.

Wow, that is really amazing! How the heck do they do something that is impossible? I'll bet it's really expensive and ineffective. Please do provide details.

Great job of letting your personal bias intrude on a rational decisionmaking process. FYI China has as many MCSE diplomates as exist in the rest of the world. India (Ugh!!!) has twice the number of MS certified software developers than the entire US.

Back on topic:
This software mentioned in the OP has been in use for nearly 2 years with its designed purpose of defeating ISP (and Govt) deep packet inspection to identify VOIP traffic. This is a much more agressive tactic that simply blocking typical VOIP ports, which is relative childs play to overcome.
Remember the hooha during the last series of elections in Iran? The only people who were able to pass the graphic images of the military crackdown on the peaceful demonstrators were equipped with hardware versions of this company's products. Not until the Iranian govt deployed a total stranglehold on internet communications was this independent info stream stopped. During that time, intelligence agencies of the Iranian regime physically sought and destroyed the equipment which was facilitating the alternative information being broadcast, phoned, tweeted or emailed to the rest of the world over the internet.

If you are in a part of the world where VOIP communications are highly regulated or blocked, I would seriously endorse the software and hardware solutions mentioned in the OP.
Good Luck

The solution for how you can use magic jack anywhere

Post by arasem »

Hello,
I have seen people complaining about Magicjack not working in Dubai or UAE and other countries in general and I tell them to use the following service. It works like charm and quality is amazing. hours worth of non dropping talk. Plus you get extra security for your internet with it. No craps installed on your device and their servers is great. I just run the software and I open magic jack. VOILAA.. it is done
It is at www.callfromanywhere.com
There is a monthly fee (20 or 24$/mo) but the amount of saving you do on the long run is amazing.
So far I didn't find a better one.
