Can I use MJ + some free VOIP software + cordless phone?

So I got all the Sid info and my password and stuff and i don't want to pay extra for skype and do not like the MJ software at all

Is there any other software I can use with my MJ dongle that will work with VOIP and my cordless house phone besides skype with ip phone center?

ip phone center is no problem but skype is ... is there something else(like a softphone setup that will work with dongle and house phone) I may use or a way to setup skype to use my magic voip service so i don't have to pay more?

Might try searching for X-lite, or variations. Mentioned many times, especially as a way to valdate your SIP info before you commit it to hardware.

If you simply don't like the magicJack softphone dialer and spending additional money is a concern, one option is to install the free MagicSilence tool from http://tools.pcphonesoft.com .

MagicSilence will make the magicJack softphone dialer disappear from your computer screen unless you decide to manually open it yourself for whatever reason. Your computer applications will also not be interrupted when an incoming call arrives. Basically, the magicJack softphone dialer just stays hidden running in the background on your computer out of sight (and hopefully out of mind).

If you have a cordless phone, there's actually no reason you need to be near your computer to make and receive calls. When you do use your computer, the magicJack software dialer will no longer visually interfere with your tasks.

thanks for the answer. is there a none compatibility issue with magic jack and vista that would prevent the caller id from displaying on the cordless phone?

It was working 3 days ago then just stopped strange.

maybe i got hit by some driver update that created a conflict.... i dunno so many factors guess i'll try the resistor fix one day.

I am using a powered usb hub.

The caller id transmission problem you are having is not going to specifically be related to Windows Vista.

It sounds like you have already reviewed the "sticky" on caller id problems and some of the options to resolve it in the Technical Support section of the forum.

One simple alternative free solution that may resolve your caller id display issue is to right mouse click on the magicJack dialer icon and make sure the top setting on the menu that pops up shows the words "Switch to Telephone". Having it set that way will cause the audible ringing that the magicJack dialer erroneously sends directly down the phone line at the same time the caller id is also being transmitted (sent down the phone line between the 1st and 2nd ring) to instead be transmitted to your computer speakers where it does not have a chance of interfering with the caller id transmission.

100% yes, sure you can use this combination, magic jack is a real magic, comes in max compatibility, VoIP + cordless phone + MJ, am seeing couple of hundred compatible apps, not hard just Google it a bit. Guess, you found some.
