Hello:
I am a newbie here. Although I have tried so many things to fix the problem described below, but unlucky so far.
I have been using my MJ for a couple of months. But suddenly, it stopped working. The dialer starts fine, but I am not getting a dial tone. My problem is actually a compounded one:
First: the service provider blocks access to MJ servers. I managed to go around this with the use of a VPN software. I can now access and download stuff from there. I have even upgraded my MJ to version 2.x.
Second: I keep getting a “Please connect to the Internet and double click here [error 404]” message on my dialer. I certainly do have access to the Internet, and MJ was able to register just fine.
I have attempted several fixes: uninstalled MJ software, restored my Win XP to earlier dates, opened ports on my router, disabled my firewall & AV software, tried my MJ on other PC, connected to a different network, replaced my router, placed my MJ on a different USB port, etc. None of them worked!
The only thing that worked was when I asked my neighbor to try my MJ on his PC. It worked fine for him. However, my MJ didn’t work when I kept it on my PC and connected my PC to my neighbor's network!!
Any ideas?
Error 404: Please connect to the Internet...

Error 404
I had the same problem after the recent upgrade.
Tried almost all that you did.
What worked for me was to unplug power to my router for about a minute , upon plugging back in the power , error was gone and MJ was fully working.
P.S.
You need to insure you are signed in to the service, and/or that you have verified your account by entering your password and user info again.
Double click were it indicates and a box will pop up fill in the info to verify.
Hope this helps,worked for me.

Thanks guys.
I just solved the problem!
I followed the instructions I found on MJ web site about Error 4:
On your computer, go to Control Panel
Go to Network Connections
Right click on your active Internet connection
Select Properties
Scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
Click on Properties.
In there check the little circle that says ”Use the following DNS Server address”.
In Preferred DNS Server type in: 67.90.152.122
In Alternate DNS Server type in: 67.107.71.186
Click OK and OK.
Now restart your magicJack.
I hope this does it for good.

I would no more depend on MJ for my DNS translations than I would trust them to complete an important phone call...ali_dubais wrote:Thanks guys.

suggest you replace them with 4.2.2.2 and 8.8.4.4, provided by folks who understand how to run a network properly..
Good Luck
