Registration Problem

Post by jerome8283 »

When running the initial install/registration I get to a point where I receive the following message...

"Customer name passed does not match customer name on file"

The USB device is reconigzed and the device driver appears to install ok. I have a Linksys WRT54G router. Can someone offer a suggested workaround?

Thanks

Where did you buy this? If from a retail store (Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc.), did the package look like it was unopened? It sounds like you might have gotten a returned dongle which was already registered by the previous owner. You can always take it back and get another one, being sure the packaging hasn't been tampered with.

It was purchased online from their site. The package appeared unopened if I remember correctly. This sounds like a logical explanation.

Thanks

Tom, should it come shrink wrapped? It was in a tivek envelope. Inside was the device in a styrofoam packing with the orange MagicJack covering, no shrink wrapp.

That is how they come Jerome, so I don't think it's been tampered with. You may have to contact MJ Support and tell them what happened. You have 30 days (starting from the day you bought it with your credit card, remember) to return it for a refund if you decide it won't work for you. You might ask them to reset your account and see what they say. They've been working on their database and you might've been caught in one of their glitches.

The issue is resolved. The initial account was created however I did not know. No email was received and an email was sent on a second attempt but went to my spam folder. Three representatives later, post them having me change router settings, opening ports, disabling options which I did not feel were necessary or secure, it turned out to be a simple registration issue. I restored all router settings.

This was not a good first experience. I hope the service proves better.

I commend you for your coming back and fessin' up. There would be much less confusion if some of the doom'n'gloom Chicken Littles would notify us of their ultimate fix and not leave their wild rants dangling.

"OMG, I just got the 'Lucky You' upgrade and now I can't make any calls".I took the MJ to my neighbor's house and it started working there but when I came home and plugged it into my PC it said it could not connect and now I cannot logon to my AOL account. Those dirty stinkin MJ scumbag varmints, I'm gonna complain to the FCC, FBI, BBB, NSA and report them to the Trade Commissioner General of Rawalpindi...

Sorry folks, my pet halibut yanked the wan cord from my router. All's well.

Jes' funnin' ya'
Good Luck

Glad you got it working. Yeah, I never received an email either when I registered.
