Reverts to Headset Automatically

Post by BStamps »

I run Magic Jack on it's own profile under Windows XP. Everytime the computer goes to the log in page and back to the MJ profile the software has reverted to headset. How do I get it to stay on telephone?

Thanks

This has always happened to us

Post by richardbarnet »

This problem has always been a part of the magicjack experience for us ever since we first bought it 3 months ago. MJ "support" was of no help, obviously - tried to act like they've never heard of such a thing before! What, they've never Googled it? LOL

This, however, has gotten much worse since the latest MJ update was pushed out (2-3 days ago). It's to the point now that I'm going to set up an old, extra computer with no sound card just for MJ, since doing ANYTHING on our primary computer (not just logging out) causes MJ to revert to headset. It seems that the Flash banner ads (with sound) at mail.yahoo.com cause it to revert, so we can't even check email without it screwing up MJ. Viewing any PDF in Adobe Reader also seems to do it, which is weird because there is no sound involved. Sometimes it just does it by itself even when nothing is going on - no user activity at all. Sucks.

I'm all for hacking the registry, but I've seen nothing anywhere (including here) that has worked so far. MJ sucks, but it's so cheap that we really have no other choice at the moment. Agggh. (Comp = WinXP SP3, MJ on an admin profile by itself - all other users have separate profiles, most are limited users.)
I hope I'm not the only one with the above problem, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You have another choice when it comes to cheep telephone service. Check out http://www.nettalk.com
The advantage of it is that you don't have to have it plugged into a computer for it to work. I am thinking about buying one myself.

I would get that too but ive heard too many issues with the service and people are making complaints to the FCC about not getting their refund and how they over charge your credit card or double charge you.

Do you know if they offer cdn numbers? I'm in Canada and i got MJ cause they offered canadian numbers.
