DO NOT USE DONGLE IF YOU DONT HAVE TO!!

I Just got a new MJ I was able to retrieve what I believe is the username and password. It doesnt seem to have changed when I remove it what ever.
I cant seem to get it to login though.
However I blocked all incoming out going traffic to the MJ app except udp 5070 and it will login and let me make and receive calls.
So I dont think there is the password is changing or that its getting it somewhere else. There maybe something thats happening when I guess it gets encoded to the md5 maybe its doing something.
I used magicsipac to get the login stuff seems to work.
It doesnt keep the pass in memory long either I think its just there for a few secs then its gone.

Re: I had 3 working SIP credentials on Wed but...
Well, I got the passwords OK, but I did not notice that on my 2nd and 3rd magic jacks has changed the USER ID to E##########02 and E##########03. Now I can place calls. I am stil having some inconsistency with incoming calls actually ringing the telephone. I have opened ports in my router ranging from 5060 to 5070 to the PAP2T device.kurtrad wrote:All three of my MJ SIP credentials stopped working on 2 Sept on my PAP2 hardware. I had not plugged in a dongle for a little over 1 year up until today.
I retrieved the SIP password from all 3 MJs again after plugging them in and using a utility named SIPDump.exe that I had downloaded back when I first started going dongleless with my PAP2 boxes a little over a year ago.
One dongle required I use the MJPROXY back then and so I updated the password on the mjproxy command line and I got that number working again on my PAP2 hardware with the new PW.
The other two SIP passwords seem to come back the same with each reinsertion of the dongle and SIPDump. However these SIP IDs and passwords do not work whether I use MJPROXY or not.
What a drag... I am back to this BS game from the MJ idiots!
Any ideas that can fix the incoming call issue?
Until two days ago, two of my three MJ SIPs worked on my PAP2 hardware witout MJPROXY running on my DD-WRT router. My other one that was running with MJPROXY had a password change. All three numbers failed.arcadia2uk wrote:I agree with you Spider, but definitely not with your wording..., it is a real issue. Let's just hope that it doesn't affect everyone. I still have one of my MJ numbers that can run w/o MJMD5:), but on another I received the latest update and can no longer use it with MJMD5, luckily I have a few spares.

They changed my USER ID on two of them as well as the passwords on all of them. Now the USER ID is E##########01, E##########02, and E##########03. Now all of them require the MJPROXY to log in successfully. I plugged in the three dongles, did the dumps on them, and I am back up and running.
Luckily I had a sipsorcery and Gizmo5 account that combined with Google voice give me free incoming and outgoing and ATA. Works just like at normal phone. I am giving up on Magic Jack . This solution works all the time and is free.

Oh I found them but they were changing at each registration. They seem to have temporally stabilized however; it is probably only a matter of a short time before they revert to dynamically changing them at each registration.twice wrote:the password is there and working just got to find them ,,VaHam wrote:I am afraid this new change is gonna be next to impossible to work around. Gonna be a bumpy ride as things keep changing. In the end the good times may be over.
Personally I don't think Dan's softphone advertising business model is gonna work now that Google has jump in the game with free calling. Once he figures that out then BYOD may finally become a reality with MJ.
I'd be happy to pay twice the yearly MJ rate for BYOD and I suspect that is more revenue than the softphone advertising is likely to garner. since thinclients and the like keep the softphone from in front of users anyway without breaking the TOS. I suspect the real reason for not having BYOD is that it would be hard to say your not a phone company then.

Whew, went out for 2 days, but got her back up and running! (Plus saved the wrath of the family unlike some others, lol)
The updates did change my SIP password which I was able to retrieve using MagicSipac. It seemed to stay pretty static for me, but the first times I was trying it I did get a different password so not sure if that was just a bad grab on the apps part or what.
Also, besides the SIP password change, my login changed from EXXXXXXXXXX01 to EXXXXXXXXXX02. MagicSipac never found the username nor did my searches though the SIPDump logs. Based on user comments, I started guessing, and it worked!
So at least for a bit, I'm back up with my two lines - MJ and GV/SipSorcery.

I noticed this by mistake: my computer was backdated to 2005, and MJ showed up with a certificate error - Not valid, date out of range.
MJ showed up with error 20, once I re-set the date everything was OK again.
So, what happens if there is no certificate?
Just a thought, maybe this have something to do with the connection errors people are having?

What you are referring to is a ssl certificate used for security of communication if the date is wrong it shows the date of the certificate to be wrong causing that error.arcadia2uk wrote:I noticed this by mistake: my computer was backdated to 2005, and MJ showed up with a certificate error - Not valid, date out of range.

I will test mine when I get home from work, the o0nly thing MJ will get from integrating this new password changes is to piss off customers and see a million returns to the local store and their website. Hope they get the point by switching the dynamic password off.blueadept wrote:They're back!
Seems they stopped, for now, the rotating passwords.
One changed user ID and both changed passwords again but I am back on my ATA!

is sip working?
My MJ has upgraded.
I was able to find my sip informations and my password is allways the same its been two days now.
But i cannot use my sip credentials in any sip software.
I tried X-lite and Sipdroid using Pbxes but it is not working.
username, password and proxy servers are right but it is not connecting.
Does anyone have any sip software working with magicjack?

I didnt use the dongle for about a year and a half either. Then I got a call from my sister saying my phone wasn't working. I found that both lines had unregistered from my ATA and I got hit with the rotating passwords (which stopped happening).VoipDude wrote:MJ still working on ATA. I never use the dongle, so avoided the latest upgrade. MJMD5 is not connected whenever my computer is off, but connects automatically whenever my computer is on. MJ has been solid for about 1 1/2 years without the dongle.
My friend, who also uses an ATA didn't have any problem. Only one of his requires the MD5.
I do not think it had anything to do with if it was on or off. It just depended on where you were on their list. Lets just hope that they scrapped this idea of rotating passwords.
I have been noticing more people are able to get the password but not actually connect to the server. I wonder if they are doing like google does for a bot detection and verify the application type. Meaning if you put in the new Magic Jack what ever it is now will that fix it. That would also explain why those using mjmd5 are having issues as that is probably hard coded in there to the older ones.dbean wrote:pap2T reg. state:

Looks like the MJ folks are up to something. Will try and take update and look for new pw...looks like that's our only option.

The internet connection outage probably wouldn't hurt you. My internet was out this morning for an unknown amount of time, and when it came back up, my Tomato router & SPA 2102 were working great.bgfrmnyc wrote:I have not experienced any problems whatsoever. Been up and running for at least a year using a ddwrt router and Pap2t. I have not made any changes just hope that I don't loose my internet connection anytime soon!
In fact I haven't been to this board recently, so I had no idea there was a new Magic Jack SIP headache until I logged in here about 5 minutes ago.
Hopefully I won't have any need to plug in the dongle and worry about the "not so lucky you" update screen.

IT seems like this post has lost its relevance, at least for the moment.
If you are experience issues - retrieve your new credentials by MagicSipac or MJSIP.

NEVERMIND.....I'm an idiot. Found my pw and username were exactly the same in all dumps.
Changed to another nearby proxy in mjproxy and all is well.
Reg. state: "online"
My local proxy sucks, always seems to go down!
Finally up and running again on DDWRT/MJMD5/ATA. After the last upgrade, I had to retrieve my new password with SIPdump and now I'm all set and ready to go. What a difference an ATA can make !!... I had horrible sound and quality of sound during the time I was using the dongle on TC trying to find some spare time and search for the new password. Hope things will settle down for while...

I ran mjsip and it displayed a bunch of different passwords. Will it be the last one?
Stroths did not retrieve anything, neither did magicsippac
using same username
update: it was the last one, i finally got it back up and running
my mj dongle is fully updated -unfortunately - does this mean my current password will not last too long?

I run SIPDump.exe (telling it to generate 3 dump files) towards the end of MJ's boot sequence and search the text files that it generates for the string "SIP.Connection.Refresh". The password is 20 characters, all in caps located near the second incidence of the search result. Now that I have the hang of it, it works like a charm for me.jeffnyc wrote:I ran mjsip and it displayed a bunch of different passwords. Will it be the last one?

This is great..... Apparently my ATA stopped working some time in the last few days. From reading other posts it seems there was a "password change" applied to all the accounts.
Problem is now that I keep getting Error 401 with the dongle, which means I'm completely dead. If the dongle can't even connect, I can't get the new SIP info and get the ATA up and running again.

I think I had a similar issue a while back. It ended up that the certificates where not accepted by my system, since I was backdated.
Make sure that you system date is correct.
Good Luck,
