I've been reading older threads about how much people have used MJ and gotten their accounts shut down. I don't want that to happen to me. How much is too much usage these days? 1 guy said he was shut down because he made 50 calls 1 day (other days, his usage has been light). so 1 heavy day gets you shut down? Or was his a fluke? Regardless of the number of minutes?! (is 50 1 minute calls bad, but 1 1-1/2 hour call ok? (yeah, Ive read how your call may be disconnected after a certain amount of time, but the account is still active).
thanks!

From The MJ Tos:
"If magicJack sees excessive use, including but not limited to, a customer whose usage is twenty (20) times more than the average magicJack's customer's usage, or a customer who calls more than 50 different telephone numbers per day, or systematic or intentional misuse, it reserves the right, in our sole discretion, to terminate your use of the magicJack device and/or Software immediately, and you will not be entitled to get a refund of any licensing fee or any other fee you may have paid to us."
So just don't call 50 different telephone numbers a day, and you will be fine!
Hope this helps.

Not quite, there are other elements to the double secret abuse equation that you have overlooked. The 50 unique numbers/24hr period is the only one that is specifically quantified. The limit of total minutes outbound/month has never been overtly mentioned in any official fashion.pbjandfritos wrote: So just don't call 50 different telephone numbers a day, and you will be fine!

For certain, inbound calls to your MJ are not an issue as they generate revenue to Ymax from the originating carrier and help them pay the bills.
Hopefully when 3rd party ads arrive on our softphone, the aggregate limit on outbound calls may ease.
Don't quote me on my conjectures, I don't have a vector into Dan's brain!
Good Luck

I think you're focusing on the numbers too much.babaganoosh wrote:anyone care to comment on how firm that 50 calls / day is? If they are 2 minute calls each, does that matter any vs. 10 calls that could be 10s of minutes each?
Honestly, a normal household will NOT place a call 50 times in one day.
If so, you are using the MJ service as something it's not intended for (a business, solicitation, etc.)
A lower number of calls for a long amount of time each is more on-target with normal phone usage (like calling family members, or companies about bill issues/service issues).

Keep it under 50 different numbers in a day and you should be okbabaganoosh wrote:I lent this to a friend that has a personal services business. They use it to confirm upcoming appointments for the next day. So, they are short calls, but a fair number of them.
Good Luck
