I can hear fine, but no one can hear me, except voicemail??

Post by Justtani »

OK... I can call out and reach someone, I hear them fine but they cannot hear me. This happens whether I call cell or landline, and all the calls are within my areacode.

When I call my own MJ number and reach the voicemail however, it does hear me because I am able to record the greeting.

This is odd to me, if it were the phone, the microphone or the settings of either, then my voice would or would not be heard regardless of what number I call. Right?

Since the MJ voicemail can detect and record my voice just fine, but no other numbers I call... I am deducting that this is a software issue? Perhaps? I am usually a technically confident individual, but this is my first experience with VOIP. Usually things make sense, but this is really confusing me.

Just trying to approch this logically as I have been trying for two days... different phones, restarting, reinstalling, and changing settings. Becoming incresingly more frustrated.

In case it helps to know the MJ version is 2.0.5620.3928
the OS is XP sp3
issue replicates on telephone and headset settings.

Anyone please, care to share? I thank you in advance wise ones!

This is a complaint that has been written about at great length. You might find some background with a search. Here's one I came up with that may help--there are many more.

Yes, I have searched. And you may notice that my problem is the opposite of the one that is being discussed in these topics.

I can hear any party I call just fine.
Touch tones such as DTMF work.
it is MY voice or the OUTgoing that is not audiable to any number I call...
with the exception of my own MJ number which does pickup and record my voice (in voicemail).

Also the other posts talk about MagicTalk software version numbers, none of which are the version I am working with.

If I did roll back to a different version, where would I find it and do I need to uninstall this version first? I am assuming so, so I will try this next. If someone can suggest a stable version and point me to it.

Thanks

try a location near you. Requires Java

This will likely show you have a very unstable internet connection
